Lewis should have been magnanimous after the race. He was, he congratulated (admittedly begrudgingly) Rosberg. He also congratulated him in the press conference... what more would you want from him? If he had been cheery about loosing I would have lost a lot more respect for him as he is a competitive animal and wants to win.

he'll grow up one day and his humility will match his talent. Strikes me you've just described Max, Tim. I also found Lewis' insistence that Britney was not a worthy champion to be more objectionable than his insistence to fight to the last flag for the championship. It'll never happen. All of the greats (certainly in my time), Senna, Schumacher, Hamilton, Alonso and maybe Vettel have been arrogant at the height of their success, but all of them were also agressive and similar to Max in his approach when they first came into F1. The quieter ones, may win a single WC and be good drivers, but they'll never factor into the great category (Rosberg being a superb example!).

He just had to say he was gutted but Nico did what he needed to to become WDC and not every driver is capable of that.

From what I saw he did just what you are concerned about, he complimented Rosberg on his Championship.

Well Hamilton fans will obviously defend him, non fans not so much. I admire his talent as a racing driver, at the moment he's unmatched on a good day, but out of the car he behaves like a dick and thats not just my opinion. If he can rise above that and be a true ambassador and behave say like Jenson, then he could be amongst the sports greatest. Just saying' . . .

I am a Hamilton supporter, maybe it's just the couple of interviews I saw (I didn't see them all) but I felt he would have helped his image if he'd looked a little less of a bad looser.

Massive Hamilton fan here - Think he's an awesome talent and dont think he behaves like a dick out of the car at all. He comes across as quite a decent guy to me and I'm glad he doesn't tend to bow. If he was from outside the uk they would be all over him like a rash, appreciate and get right behind what they had. Absolutely sick to the back teeth of 'the behave like Jenson' type references' what da heck! he aint Jenson Button for crying out loud (and why should he be ?) get over it and let the guy be - stonking talent, top young guy and hats off to him from me.

Well one could say he gets too many critical behaviouly references to make you 'sick to the back teeth' because he bahaves badly, simples. But hey each to their own. I'll agree to differ.

Great driver, not so great a sportsman. I think a team change would be a good idea for both him and Mercedes. He's not a good fit there now after his antics during the race and his very ungracious behavoir after the race. I think we all forget that Senna, Schumacher and Vettel were all selfish dicks when they were at their peak, too. It's the only way great sportsmen get to the top. I don't have to like him, but I do admire his driving.

Kind of sums it up for me too Also I would like people to remember the great rivaliers in GP Lauda vs Hunt, Prost vs Senna. Prost and Senna were in the same team but no quarter was given by either. In the days when driving was a lot less safer.

Whilst I mildly criticise Lewis for some of his interviews I really have no time for Merc if they want their drivers to 100% tow the company line when Merc already have the WCC and the drivers are battling for the WDC. The WDC is what the public want to see, it's more important to the paying public than the WCC. An orchestrated WDC holds little interest.

I agree, and what is it with Jackie Stewart always spouting 'it's Hamiltons fault' ?? He did the same regarding the Spa incident and here he is again with his insulting ballerina blame remarks. I'm beginning to think he see's Hamilton as regrettably 'that other guy' sharing my greatness as the only British drivers with three titles - hence always on the negative. No worries Stewey - Lewis will likely end his career with 4, 5 or maybe 6 titles so you've nothing to worry about.....

I was amused by this comment I saw elsewhere:
All Lewis had to say to Paddy Lowe was " I am trying to protect my engine guys, the explosion in Malaysia is still fresh in my mind and I want to win this one". Now no body could have had an argument with that and they would have had no choice but to keep quiet. But in the heat of a battle, you don't always think of the right things to say.

If I was Lewis, I'd have tried to back Rosberg up even more in the race, and literally force him into drivers behind him.

Lewis was voted best driver of the year by the team bosses, and by quite some margin from Verstappen, who was rated 2nd. That should focus the mind of Toto and Mercedes before they try to upset Lewis even more with any sort of punishment. Ferrari has an eye on him, as does Mclaren. Lewis is a man who won't hesitate to jump ship if he feels tied down by the bosses. He already showed that when he gave his reasons why he left McLaren.
