As the 2015 season has finished, time to look forward.
I see the BBC have given up on their contract to cover F1, and now it's with channel 4.
I wonder what their team will be ?

I've been thinking about that too. I hope they take Coulthard on as he's knowledgeable and entertaining. As for that twat Jordan, muzzling is the only solution.
Me, I'll be sticking with Sky.

I remember when cricket moved from the BBC. It stopped me watching because I didn't like the changes. I've never returned.
As I already stopped watching F1 in 2015 having been a constant viewer since 1974, I guess it's not that much of a loss. I was hoping to perhaps try watching again next season but I don't see much change from 2015 in terms of a Mercedes 1-2 every race.
Not much impact on me then, but I do think it will be another slide down the ratings for F1. It needs a major overhaul IMO but I have no clue what would make it more compelling and still keep it as F1.
Sad for the BBC team though. I thought they did a great job.
Edit: Now that F1 isn't on the Beeb's menu, we will be getting even less for our money. The time has long passed for the licence fees justification IMO. This just makes the argument for scrapping it even more compelling. In an entire year, the only BBC programme I've watched is Strictly. I don't even use BBC radio. Why should I pay to keep it all going?
I can see the argument for the fee back in the day when we had four channels and its output had a massive impact on public discourse and national identity. These days it's an irrelevance to many. Personally I think it's only the fear of negative political coverage that stops the politcians from wrapping the whole deal up and making them find funds elsewhere.

Muzzling? I was thinking more like concrete boots and a visit to the Mariana Trench! Actually, since he's unable to keep his mouth shut for a second and is the actual height of a garden gnome, a three foot deep paddling pool would do the same job and save more money!

I'll get my coat. I find elements of what he says amusing at times, but I also find he makes far too many stupid and rash comment which undermine him overall. As far as F1 moving from the BBC to CH4 is concerned, like Martin I have Sky and generally just watch that these days, so not that bothered!

Be interested to see if that deflates the asking price to screen in the future

CH4 have said they'll broadcast the entire race without commercial breaks, so good effort. No idea what their depth of knowledge will be, though, as they've never done it before.

I find him interesting in a "spectacle" kind of way. You just knew he would make a tit of himself every show. The fun was sitting anticipating...........
I always hoped DC had the bottle to pull his wig off and throw it into the crowd. Sadly, this will now never happen unless C4 sign them both.

I wouldn't say I find him interesting, but the show would be mundane without him making controversial statements all the time. Suzi is as dull as ditch water and DC, although very knowledgeable, can be a little dry. EJ spices it up and makes me laugh out loud often They should dump Suzi and employ Lee McKenzie instead, much better presenter IMHO. All moot though, as I doubt I'll see many of the races next year - might go to the Chinese GP though?

I was reading an article on the Guardian website today, which I found very funny. www.theguardian.com/media/2015/dec/27/chris-evans-gives-up-tfi-friday-role-top-gear-focusSo the Chris Evans has had to give up TFI since he was overcommitted work wise. The TG team has no idea which cars to feature, and the one important person that Chris brought in has decided to leave before TG is even aired. Now who in the BBC thought that it would be a brilliant idea to give this job to Evans?

Maldonado out, Magnussen in. Thank goodness for a little sense in team choice. Magnussen and Palmer both have a lot to prove and should give us a good fight. The Renault engine may be improved, too, placing them in the midfield.

Sad about Maldonado really. F1 will have to step up a gear if it wants to replace the excitement that Pastor brought to each race. But he can hold up his head high. He did win a race, which is a lot more than many others can say from their spell in F1.

I'll get my coat. In that he ran a pretty competitive race team, developed lots drivers who went on to good things and has a good nose for what is going to happen / has contacts who will divulge info, he is valuable. His presentation and style obviously gets up some noses, perhaps they are a vocal few, perhaps not...

The man was a loose canon in a projectile, pretty useless at wheel to wheel calm clear head stuff Imo and the deserves to make way for other talent to have a crack. Same could be said for some others though.
