I agree that I am glad that Mercedes have allowed Nico and Lewis to race (although we haven't really seen that on track too much!).
If Lewis manages to pull it off it'll be sensational, but it will be a tall order now unfortunately. If Rosberg wins it though, he'll be a deserving Champion as he has driven extremely consistently this year (although it pains me to say anything nice about him and I cannot stand the guy!).

I was reading about the Ron Dennis situation on the BBC sport web site and was intrigued by this statement.
Anyone any ideas what it is referring to ?
" At its heart is the story of a broken friendship - between Dennis and fellow shareholder Mansour Ojjeh, who were close allies for three decades before they fell out a few years ago.
Why? There are stories buzzing around the F1 paddock about it, including one that many of those close to the situation believe to be true but which cannot be detailed here."

I know Mansour Ojjeh got the hump when Ron sacked Martin Witmarsh, apparently Mansour Ojjeh was in hospital at the time.

I'd heard that too.

I couldn't watch the celebrations. Undeserving champion? You can all consider your opinions, I'll just look forward to next season and faster cars.

OTOH I loved every minute and it's sweet for me given the last two years. I'm also looking forward to next year though. Hopefully an end to one constructor dominance.

Hearing Hamilton earns £80M a year rather surprised me so he's not doing so badly. Any idea what Rosberg earns ?
MotoGP was an odd this year with Marquez seemingly not doing that well yet winning with a couple of races to go.

It was quite an exciting end to the race/season, but I did not bother to watch the podium ceremony, nor the after race interviews. The new regulations for next season might just shake things up, but I'm not sure that they will make such a change. Mercedes are already so far ahead on the engine/power management front, and their chassis is one of the best, so they are starting from a pretty powerful base. The other teams have to catch up on the engine front AND come up with a better interpretation of the new chassis/aero rules for 2017. Remember Mercedes was once Brawn GP, and they managed to interpret a previous set of rules in such a way that the blown diffuser was born. Many of the old Brawn guys are still there, and I'm sure they have not forgotten how to 'interpret' a rule book.

Saying that, the Renault engine has certainly come up in performance. Those Red Bulls don't look slow any more. If Ferrari can continue along their path, you never know but power could be fairly even between them. Even Honda have come a long way this season.

Well !! I've lost £30 today, would have picked up £130 if Lewis would have pulled it off but deep down i knew that whilst he'd win it being Hamilton, the reality of Rosberg coming 4th today in that car was an extremely tall order and mostly unlikely, Some are unhappy because they dont feel the best driver / racer won. ( I feel the same as pjdowns and Martin T by to be honest but hey ho!) As much as I love Hamilton and do think he's a fab driver, I've no hard feelings towards Rosberg. He's realised a childhood dream, done it like his Dad and he and fam' will be elated.
Yes, he'll know deep down that it's happened mainly due to Hamilton having more than the usual mechanical crap to deal with all season but wont care one iota. Hamilton clawed back every single time but when he and we thought it couldnt get any worse - blown engine leading the race in Malaysia and nil points. That one in my eyes was one bridge too far for anyone and so... Destiny had it Rosberg for 2015/16.
Will it hurt Hamilton, you bet. It's how he's made - what I mean by that is he knows he's 'better', knows how good he is and that if wasn't for said issues Rosberg would only have had a sniff and nothing more but that's life. Lick ya wounds Lewis, you've shown that you are as good as untouchable when you've got the bit between your teeth and on the level playing field. I'm no doubt at all that Hamilton will come back stronger than ever, his mind set will be 'I will return' and that the title is only on loan.
See you all next season guys, I'm already looking forward to it, new cars, rules and all of that.

Lots of speculation over Hamilton facing the sack or suspension for "crawlgate" www.gptoday.com/full_story/view/589562/Hamilton_faces_sack_over_Abu_Dhabi_GP_behaviour/I don't think it would ever happen but I do think there is a serious possibility of a swap between him and Vettel. Mercedes get an all-German team at lower cost and probably a lot less controversy. Hamilton already threatened to sit out the season after Barcelona, as well as raising suspicions about Mercedes reliability affecting him only, so I wonder how much more grief he will take before looking for another seat. With the new rules next year, Mercedes may not be the dominant team, or at least not as dominant. Anyone else think he might switch teams?

Tbh im glad in one respect that rosberg won the title this year as it will mean Hamilton comes out fighting next year. After wrapping it up last year with 4 races to go, I think he came out this year with his head up his arse. I don't think he expected the sea change in rosbergs attitude and was playing catch-up mentally straight out of the gate. Rosberg has become extremely adept at coming second, and yes the mechanical issues Hamilton faced this year have been a big factor in rosbergs winning season, but i admire the fact that in many ways it has been rosbergs absolute focus that has won it for him. Lewis just didn't have that focus enough of the time to turn it around. Rosberg knew for a fact that mixing it with Lewis wouldn't go his way so was mature enough to collect the points this time around and play a more cagey game. Roll on next season, i think it will be a doozy. And someone please give max verstappen a faster car and a little more sense!

I agree with pretty much all of that, ant.
I could see Lewis going to Ferrari (and they would move heaven and earth to have him) or back to McLaren (who will finally find form in chassis and Honda engine).

Great driver, not so great a sportsman. I think a team change would be a good idea for both him and Mercedes. He's not a good fit there now after his antics during the race and his very ungracious behavoir after the race.
Hopefully he'll grow up one day and his humility will match his talent.

Lewis should have been magnanimous after the race. I have zero issues with his race tactics which were very clean. I'm ok with Nico winning WDC as he did what he needed to and he brought the car home across the season though he got up to a couple of dirty tricks for which he was punished.

I agree he no longer seems a good fit for Mercedes. He's also been proactive in moving when he sees an oportunity and any likely sanction from Merceds will be a "bridge too far" for him, I feel. Likewise, Seb has previously shown cunning and good use of contacts to engineer a move. Therefore, I am really beginning to believe he will swap with Vettel. Of course, Seb ALWAYS follows team orders so there is no likelihood of further issues........

he'll grow up one day and his humility will match his talent. Strikes me you've just described Max, Tim. I also found Lewis' insistence that Britney was not a worthy champion to be more objectionable than his insistence to fight to the last flag for the championship.
