No problem, they can be sent on to you again.
I made a slight error regarding WHERE these reviews are to be posted please. TIS in TIS thread and BMU in the BMU thread etc. etc..

Yes - please create the review thread in the appropriate area for that component. Thanks.

Another request for people who take advantage of this offer to keep to their side of the bargain please and promptly post their thoughts on their experiences - good, bad or indifferent. For the loans to TAS members that I am aware of, I think Greg is now the only outstanding one.
Come on Greg, let's be 'avin' yer!

Alaska Dave now has the BMU. The TIS is with an HFS member.

I've been asked to enquire if anyone would be interested in trying the little Cubette speakers next, once the current loanee has finished with them next week?

Oh, now that's just too tempting to pass on. Can I try them please, Dave? I'm hooked on Kans at the moment, so "small is beautiful" in my world right now. I have a good few amps to play with too, so I can experiment. I'm happy to let anyone else who's interested try them first.

Would you be kind enough to PM me your address and phone number (just for the record, privately, on here) and I'll arrange to have them sent on. I wanted to go into reams about Kans and how you may find the Cubettes in comparison, but I'd be shot from the direction of Sidcup if I did so try away and please report your findings afterwards.

Haha go on I really like the fact we have opposite tastes. These Kans have my favourite tweeter the Scanspeak D2008, which I recall you really can't stand. Elas, Royds, SBLs, IBLs and Kans all use it and all are loved by me. Just goes to show; one man's meat really can be another man's poison. I think it's not only a case of taste, but also what you're seeking. I'm always seeking stimulus of some kind in life, and hifi is no different. I seem to seek a lively and perhaps extreme sound to some. I often change when I need a different stimulus, even though I have a system that I like. I'll PM you my address now.

Bait - Rise - ME???!!!
The Scan has a resonance at 9khz which I hear as a one-note 'whistle' on cymbals and strings. Other samples sounded 'zitty' to me and of course, it doesn't go down low enough to integrate properly with old mid drivers like the KEF B110 which go to pieces over 1.5k, so you get a hole between the two - in my opinion of course.. Even the ferro-fluid version as used by Spendor and Pro-Ac does it to me and Spendor made it worse by having a ripe and over-lush bass and mid presentation when they used it (SP2's with polypropylene bass-mid drivers that all suffer surround hardening now)..
Both NVA tweeters, used the way they are with good cap and resistor, are allowed to sparkle, but only when it's there in my experience.
Current fave vintage IMF Compact's use an EMI? CONE tweeter over 5kHz and it's not so bad at all to me - so what that tells you about my failing hearing is anybody's guess...

I've just had a prod from the Doc to all loanees of NVA gear.
Part of the deal is to write user comments on the stuff borrowed, both initial impressions please as well as a fuller description when time is up and items passed on. I believe there are threads here and at TAS for the individual items concerned - if not, please create one and I'm sure the Doc will copy text for the review thread on HFS.
I don't like to push hard as you all know, but the Doc is out of this loop mostly and needs to know his gear is being used, listened to and through and he needs to know by your posting how you lot are getting on with the stuff you've borrowed.
I'm happy to facilitate, but don't like being squeezed hard from both ends as I don't make a very good sandwich - too much fat and gristle (or should that be grizzle too?)...
Over and out for now

Cubettes will be winging their way to me soon. I promise to write up fully. I have amps coming out of my ears right now, so I will try them with a few different combos and report as I go. Not much has piqued my interest of late, but I'm looking forward to these

Dave, please negotiate the reporting deal at the time of making the loan. That way you've got agreement up front and we won't have to make repeated appeals for reviews.

I think we are pretty much up to date with TAS members comments now, aren't we?

I do keep on 'grizzling' about writing reports at all stages of the loan 'deal,' but one or two people do take their time

Hi,
I've one to do for the Phono 2 I borrowed, going to try and write something up today.
I will require an address for the return of it.
Thanks,
Mike.

Currently return to base unless anyone else would like to try it?
Anyone want to try the Phono 2/PSU? Currently set for MM but can be changed if necessary...

Currently return to base unless anyone else would like to try it? Hi, Ok I'll be able to post it on Wednesday. If no one else wants it I'll send it back to NVA. Sorry not posted review yet. Been a bit hectic today. Mike.

PLEASE give it a bit of priority - I need a quiet life - cough...
It IS important that reviews of all kinds get posted, as the TIS has been interesting. In some systems it barely changes things in a swings and roundabouts sort of way, whereas in others like my lash-up, the difference is subtle but enough that it's missed if taken out of circuit. When the Doc is less busy, I want him to make up a loaner SSPmk2, which I understand is a quad of SC per channel inside an outer jacket, offering very low capacitance I believe. That's one I want to try at home here...

A quick update on available gear..
Pre-amps P20 P50 P90 stepped attenuator option available (P50 and P90)
Power amps A20 (I think) A30 A40s
Integrated amps AP20
Phono stages Phono 1 Phono 2 In either MM or MC
Speakers Cubettes CUBE 2 CUBE 3
Interconnects
Super Sound Pipe mk2 (SSPmk2) 1m The Interconnect Statement (TIS) 1m
Speaker cables LS1 3m LS3 3m LS5 3m LS6 3m The Speaker Cable Statement (previously known as LS7)
Some of the loan cables will have to be made up specially for loan, but they will be done.
TIS, Cubettes and BMU have taken the bulk of interest, but the amps are well worth trying too (these will come with speaker cables which can be tried separately) and are a fascinating alternative to the usual suspects under a grand or two..
Just thought I'd mention it again.

Dave: just thinking aloud here, but do the power amps now work ok with active preamps? I know the MK2 have bigger heatsinks and I'm sure I read a while back that this widened their uses to at least some active prarmps.
Similarly, I know the passives will work with some power amps, but is compatibility simply down to nput sensitivity or are their other factors.
I realise optimal use of these amps will likely be with each other, but not everyone will want to start by replacing both preamp and power amp, so was wondering if some advice on matching might be useful.
