Quick update I've just posted on HFS -
Current update on TIS and BMU. Sincere apologies to Antonio on HFS, as he requested loans ages ago and I didn't know, let alone put him on my list until today...
BMU - To the best of my knowledge, it's with Accudazed (Steve) and he's also about to receive the TIS from martinT as well.
After Steve, Greg is next on the list and as he felt rather cross about the previous loan situation, I feel this should be so.
Antonio is next for the BMU.
TIS - Accudazed Steve is due to receive the loan sample from MartinT. Greg next and I then promised it to John (WalterWhite on HFS), followed by Antonio.
Hope this meets with everyone's approval.

Many thanks, Dave. If anyone else wants to try an NVA product, looks like Dave has a full handle on it now.

BMU Update,
Due to an oversight which is as much my fault as kaz (I think), 'Alaska' has been left out of the loop regarding BMU. I've put him in immediately after Greg and if Accudazed is reading this, I need to know how long you've now had the BMU and when Greg is likely to receive it.
Apologies all!
P.S. I've PM'd Steve for an update on his loan situation. Thanks for understanding chaps.

Hi,
Was thinking of borrowing the Phono 2 stage (MM). What are the logistics of borrowing one and does it need particular interconnects.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Mike.

Hi, Was thinking of borrowing the Phono 2 stage (MM). What are the logistics of borrowing one and does it need particular interconnects. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Mike. The Doc has the loan units and will send from there. I'm happy to be intermediary for addresses etc..
As for interconnects, with mine I've used whatever I had to hand at times - KLotz, cheapo £2.50 specials from CPC, different Van Dammes and Mark Grant HD1000's. Doesn't matter a damn in all honesty, although the SSC is what I normally use when seriously listening through it as I like the way it (doesn't seem to) has with the music passing through it. Best results are with the main unit well away from mains transformers to remove any chance of hum induction
What cartridge do you use? The loading and circuit characteristic means the Phono board proper isn't too fussed by the cartridge feeding it, but it can be fine-fine tuned if necessary for load and gain. Nominally 47k for MM and 100 (plus 470pF I think) for MC with corresponding gain adjustment. Current examples are easily altered by NVA without wholesale board removal.
If you'd like to go ahead, please PM me with details and I'll pass them on. I'd suggest trying the SSC interconnect with it, but it really isn't fussy...

A reminder from the Doc via me if I may..
The main condition of borrowing these units is to PLEASE write a review of your experiences with the products you've borrowed. Try to be balanced please, even if you dislike it...
Obviously the intention is to increase brand awareness and hopefully garner some extra sales now or down the line. I remember years ago on AOS when I became vaguely aware of the brand again after twenty years and I remember nobody actually disliked anything NVA made (I think Martint would be able to remember and confirm) and any criticisms were of spats online with the Doc, which won't happen now.

Part of the reason for the existence of this scheme was to separate stupid personal wars from NVA itself, the former causing bias against the latter.
I will always write up what I hear from a loan unit, it's only common courtesy after all and, anyway, isn't the purpose of a forum to exchange information for the common good?

I am extremely tempted to try the BMU but I am also very cautious that I won't want to part with it and therefore will need to convince the wife to allow me to buy one… Considering I am getting a lot of hassle over the amount I have spent on this hobby over the past 12 months, I think that may be a bridge too far which is a shame as I am more than sure it would be a significant upgrade….
Oh and especially as I have just (finally) purchased a friends used Base Platforms stand which whilst was an excellent price, still adds up and goes on the list as far as wifey is concerned.

MOD: Dave, this is blatant selling of products which Paul didn't even ask about. Please keep to the loan scheme and what Paul is asking for, thanks. Take anything else to PM but only if invited to do so.
