Has anyone noticed a discernible / worthwhile difference in bass weight from different speaker cables?
If so, I would be interested to know which cables would be worth investigating ...

Yes - the TQs I'm selling (no, really, I'm not just saying that)!

I think it will depend on amp and speakers. As a life-long box swapper, I've found that a cable that has big bass in one system can be less impressive in another. I did like the old Supra 10 for its bass weight but finding some today will be a challenge.

8TC was a good all-rounder for me in the early days.

I suppose I should explain my setup first, I'm using NVA amps/preamp and NVA cables. I'm bi-amping a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 2 speakers using An NVA P50 passive preamp with NVA A40 power amps for bass via NVA LS3 speaker cable and a NVA A30 Mk1 amp to handle the HF using NVA LS1 speaker cables. As an aside, as I was searching Google for the links to attach I found my original 3D rendering of my setup, prior to purchase (I used to work with 3d modelling software in another lifetime) so I'll bore you with it here just for fun. TEAC UD-H01, NAD C516BEE CD Player, and a Sony ST-SDB900 DAB in a Partington Rack in case you were wondering What was the question again? Oh, yes. There is a difference between the LS1 and the LS3 cables, which is why the LS3 are used for LF and the LS1 for HF and I have definitely heard that difference. I am reliably informed that the further one goes up the range the more definition is achieved. As a poor old bugger looking forward to being a pensioner I will never have the dosh to substantiate that statement.

Nice! Speaking as another who has a biamped system, I see your 3D modelling skills were not quite up to tackling the rat's nest wiring!!

LS6 was every bit as good as TQ Ultra Black, but less expensive, so that is another option to look at for good bass reproduction.

Thicker gauge speaker cable definitely (and obviously) allows deeper bass and greater dynamic than thinner cable - this is very easy to hear if you compare 42 strand to 79 strand to Linn K20 (for example). The waters have been somewhat muddied in recent years by the introduction of exotic materials like silver as their raw cost has meant that most speaker cables have been quite thin. Often the improved version that has subsequently been released is the same thing but thicker!

Thicker yeh i could hear the difference between the '4TC & 8TC' as they are both the same thing, just the latter had twice the amount of conducters

8TC was a good all-rounder for me in the early days. Remember it well, I went from 8VS to 8TC then I bought Monocle X, all very good. That must be about eleven years ago now. Now I use DIY cable, I've got the make it yourself bug.

I found that RG8/U worked very well for bass. It's a big lump of copper.

Thanks to all for the input. Been trawling through eBay and not really finding anything that looks to be a particularly heavy gauge... Would these Supra cables fit the bill? They are 2 x 6.0 sq. mm Tin-plated OFC. pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=390893611296&alt=web I've just had a good result with a Supra interconnect so wouldn't mind trying one of their speaker cables.
