Isn't the exposure speaker cable the same as Talk 3.1, Linn K20 and NAIM NACA4? Or were there two exposure speaker cables? Original Exposure speaker cable was similar construction to NACA4 and K20 but it wasn't the same. It had larger stiffer strands and a tougher outer sheath. It was a very good cable but I slightly preferred K20. K20 and NAC A4 were supposed to be the same but the outer skin was still different and they still sounded different. I've had both cables a good few times over the years and I have always preferred K20. Incidentally, K20 itself changed slightly at one stage. It retained its geometry and outer sheath but the strand count dropped slightly and the strands themselves thickened slightly. This was documented in a mag back in the day. Exposure is great and out performs NACA4, possibly NACA5

I agree.

I think the key point with Julian's experience is that speaker cables can sound very different from each other, and it's not just about thickness of copper or even thickness/stiffness of cable.

+2 and they can have entirely different effects on different components and systems.

Agreed. That's why it's really imperative to try cables in your own system.

Indeed.
I have to admit that in the past I have a great cable sceptic. This experiment has also confirmed my belief that for some time my system wasn't sufficiently neutral to show up differences in cables. Since spending a good deal of time re-tubing my phono stage, I find the system much more accurate and revealing of the source material. This gave me the clue that it might be time to have a play with cables again.

I guess I'd be wasting my time by pointing out that it's impossible for a speaker cable to change the amount of bass...? Unless the laws of physics have changed since I last checked of course....

Jules is a cable skeptic unlike some of us and still noticed a difference in his system

I certainly noticed a difference changing from no name 6mm copper wire to silver plated 12awg - speed and bass presence both changed.

I have been using Van Damme Blue 2 x 1.5 speaker cable for the past year thanks to these pages, but have just bought myself 14metres of Talk Cable 3.1 in green. When it arrives I will let you all know if I have made a mistake or not.

Fisual black hollywood twist can be had for £2 a meter at the moment(its usually six quid a meter), a few of us Scottish lads have tried it. I rate it highly having moved from a 6mm copper cable my bass has noticeably tightened up and is far more defined. As previous posters have said its very system dependent (synergy!). Its a mixture of silver coated copper and copper in a lattice configuration-easy to work with to boot.
I wasn't expecting much but have been pleasantly surprised. My 57s dont have trouser flapping bass but the fisual stuff has done a nice job of making the most of what they do without any top end harshness or sibilant on voices which is my pet hate.

There is no bass in speakers just some conductors, dielectrics and coverings!

www.audiovisualonline.co.uk A google search on fisual black hollywood twist brings it up. The posted it free of charge and it arrived two days later. I run 6m a side so it seems to work fine in longer lengths. Bass is lovely and defined and textured not over blown or flabby. Doc Stewart on AOS takes the credit for sharing his find with the troops.

Specific link. www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/product/2341/fisual-hollywood-dark-twist-screened-speaker-cable/I tried this in my system last week. Obviously any cable performance is system specific. It didn't work for me bringing a sharp and edgy sound. Now that statement is listener specific. I can't overcome the subjectivity. For me it was out performed by Cable Talk 2 which was out performed by my stock cables which are Cat5 TNT Audio Twisted Twins DIY cables. No change for me then.
