I have a 2nd AfterDark clock arriving today. An Emperor Triple Crown. It'll be fun comparing it with my current King. Both will eventually be put to use.

I found mine about as useful as putting a wet finger into a live mains socket. An absolutely hopeless bit of kit - one of my speakers is quite near my mains extension and when I put the ifi thing in I could hear an actual increase in noise through the speaker. A bit ifi then ?

They are svetlana sv811-3, practically the same as sv572, infact, most of the times i heard this amp before i bought it it was running the 572s. I got it with 2 pairs of 811-3s, the ones in it, and a pair of st type bottles. Front end is an aikido type. The sv811 is a pig to drive, it wants around 160v pk/pk and a decent amount of current behind it, hence the aikido front end. A 2 stage amp isnt really a goer, although eric barbour did publish a circuit with a pentode front end on it which i cant remember at the moment. This one has fixed bias, a pair of smps heater supplies that run directly to the front end, and through a pair if coleman regs to heat the output valves. Its a clever implementation of the sv811-3, and sounds very nice indeed. Its a sledgehammer when required, and a feather when thats required. None of the slushy rose tintedness of a 300b, its a completely different animal. Its a proper sod to get the sv811-3 to do its thing, but its worth it

Mine measures poorly. See my plug-in filter measurement thread. Will do, Martin.

Almost, Ant. They are a new set of higher performance coil packs to drive better sparks, since my 60k service is almost due and the engine needs to be tilted to get the plugs out (the disadvantage of a flat four configuration), so I thought I'd get these in at the same time.

I've now solved the problem of that big empty space on the pedalboard.

I have purchased a hand-made "Cocked WAH," pedal.

It's a pedal that emulates a wah-wah pedal set in one position, i.e. "cocked," and left there. There is a "sweet spot" on wah-wahs, and guitarists like Mick Ronson (Ziggy Stardust: the intro is a great example plus the Moonage Daydream solo), Jimmy Page (Whole Lotta Love solo), Mark Knopfler (Money for Nothing riffs) use(d) the sound, so it's like a wha-wah pedal but with a rotary control instead of the treadle. It makes it a lot easier to " set and forget" rather than setting up a wah pedal every time. They sell for between £100 to £200+ butI've found a guy who makes them for forty quid. This is not the greatest example, but it's probably the shortest.
