I have to think long and hard about this, because most of the things I dislike are easily avoided, so generally speaking I have to go out of my way to be annoyed by them. I guess what I find particularly annoying are tiny little motorbikes that make an awful lot of noise, disproportionate to their size, and people who let their dogs crap on the pavement.

and people who let their dogs crap on the pavement. Avoid Toulouse at all costs. Actually maybe I shouldn't have cut the annoying little motorbikes bit out of your quote either...

People who are judgemental of others People who earn ridiculous salaries for doing sod all and believe it makes them more important Hmmm. Doesn't the latter statement make you one of the former?

I try hard not to hate, preferring to think in terms of what I'm for rather than against. That said, there are things I cannot tolerate such as cruelty to others and cruelty to animals. I'd add that witnessing cruelty and doing nothing isn't acceptable to me. I have intervened and will continue to do so, even if it means dealing physically with somebody.

One of the books I have read (can't remember which one) said that when dealing with other people in life it would be good if "we were pleased for them that they were happy being the person they had chosen to be".
Takes some doing when you see what some "arseholes" have turned out like.
I suppose being non-judgemental is a step forward.
Another thing is to try and not like what people do without not liking the person themselves. Does that make sense ?
And lastly, my dear old Mum says "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." If only we all could.

I don't think so. People who earn ridiculous salaries and work hard for it are fine by me. Do you think I should have any respect for, say, the CEO of many of the water companies?

Do you think I should have any respect for, say, the CEO of many of the water companies? I'd find it difficult to judge a) how hard someone was working and under what sort of pressure and b) whether they felt 'superior' to anyone else as a result of their pay/position. I wouldn't say anyone was necessarily due my 'respect' however hard they worked.

People who try to force their dislikes on oneself.
Vacant drivers.
Idiots that park in disabled bays without a Blue Badge forcing the disabled to walk far to far.
Idiots who are plainly athletic and in good health parking in disabled bays with a Blue Badge that is not theirs.
Bastards that deliberately walk into you when you are heavily walking with a stick because you fall over a lot.
London Tube users that never notice you can barely stand with your walking stick and never ever give up the disabled chair, but then swear at you when you fall on them.
Business partners that take what you have designed and assume it is there and not yours, and the 40yrs of experience you have had means nothing when it comes to their greed.
Assholes that do U Turns in a road that is not wide enough and mount the payment to kill the cripple.
Many many more, but the box of soap is not big enough.

War in the name of religion. Now I'm going to sound picky, but is war in the name of religion any worse than, say, war in the name of nationalism, or war in the name of capitalism/communism, and, if so, why?
