Sand covered brothel creepers for amplifiers?

I love this album, along with much of the 90s output from warp label.
This album has some good memories for me, a friend of my wifes (her old art lecturer) came to stay with us for a few days and do some painting around the North East. On a brisk but bright autumn day he suggested we head to the countryside for walk, we all got in his car with brushes, chalks and paper and made our way to a spot I won't disclose for reasons which will become apparent.
After walking a mile or so we happened upon a field of mushrooms and, still unsure whether they were the right sort, began picking.
We filled bags and bags of the tiny black fungi and, after consulting a library book, took them home with us.
A friend of mine and his girlfriend decided to pop by, he brought me a cassette copy of the album and we invited them to join us for the evening. Then two more friends arrived who'd been caught out in the rain whilst cycling arrived and they also came in to dry off.
So here we were,a merry bunch indeed and brews were duly prepared and consumed. We spent the evening each sitting surrounded by art materials, painting and sketching each other and as the brews took effect we popped the cassette in the machine.
The album became the soundtrack to that lovely chilled autumn evening and it's hazy sounds and voices, complete with some of the 'art' which we kept, became a reminder of that time where a few good friends all went on a bit of a cosmic (and platonic, I'll hasten to add) journey together.
The paintings by the way were brilliant and I have no art skill whatsoever.

Thanks chaps.
I'd been keeping these in cotton wool for when I finally get a dedicated music room.
Sadly it turns out I need a new roof on the house first.

+1 an amazing insight into the life of some of Britain's unsung heroes. I have actually been down Kellingley Colliery and got to know many miners very well during the 80's miners strike. A sad end to an industry very seldom talked about now or understood, but our coal industry was the biggest in the world for decades. I also highly recommend this is something to watch, it's on the iPlayer, which is how I saw it. It is a working environment unlike any other. I once went down the potash mine at Redcar for a meeting with some Durham university boffins who were doing dark matter research down there. Almost a mile deep and 7 mile out to sea, the heat and rocksalt dust was unbelievable. We all turned our lamps off for a moment and the dark was like nothing I've ever experienced before or since. Sadly that mine has closed too but it still stands out as one of my most unusual and memorable days at work ever.

What is/was the new price Rich? Hmm. Rega discontinued these to make way for their new range. I believe maybe £800-£900 brand new. Mine were ex dem so I got them a bit cheaper than that. Currently going for a lot more on ebay than I'm asking here but I detest ebay and would rather deal with decent people.

Just finished watching the second part of this excellent documentary on the closure of Britain's last remaining deep coal mine.
Handled really sensitively by the film makers I was genuinely moved at the last shift, seeing these big tough men moved to tears by the loss of their jobs and realising they are the end of an era in British industry.
Although I never worked in this industry I think anyone who has ever seen the run down and closure of a job they took pride in will relate. When their gaffer welled up, so did I.
A must watch if only to bear witness to something gone in our lifetimes and enjoy the straight talking ways of the Yorkshire miners.

Much needed home repairs forces sale. Looking for £400. Many have had a chance to hear these at NEBO and MiBO events and most who have enjoyed them. The middle child of the Rega floorstander range. Cosmetically lovely condition, circa 2 years old. One minor blemish shown in the pics on the top of one cabinet, barely noticeable in situ. Must have occurred when loading them into the car for a bake off. Original boxes, packaging and bridging connectors all good. Sensitivity 89db, 6 Ohms,110w power handling sound great with valves up em but pretty unfussy amp wise Collection from Gateshead in Tyne and Wear preferred. May deliver within a reasonable radius for petrol costs. PM me to discuss. Guitar shown in pic for scale only and not for sale. Cash, PayPal gift or cleared bank transfer accepted.

Much needed home repairs forces sale. Looking for £650 firm. These speakers will be familiar to many of this parish as the work of master craftsman Colin Topps (Toppsy). These were I believe his prototype MK1 for what would lead to the MK2 and later Norge designs. Highly sensitive so sound great with low power valves, but also seem to like Arcam watts up them. These big boys give you scale and depth in abundance. There's a separate tweeter sensitivity dial on the back, I like them not far off fully open. Whilst they've never been out of the house under my ownership these were a demo pair previously used at various shows and bake offs so there are some minor cosmetic blemishes hopefully highlighted in the pics. Full and interesting thread on these speakers and some of their development here: theartofsound.net/forum/showt...le-LoudspeakerNeedless to say they're pretty big and fairly heavy so collection from Gateshead, Tyne and Wear or I can deliver them with a reasonable radius for petrol costs. PM me to discuss. Note, guitar shown in the pics is for scale and not included in the sale. Payment by cash, bank transfer or PayPal gift pls.

8/10 for me. I bought this when it came out and still enjoying tracks from it.
Roscoe, Head Home and Young Bride are the standout moments for me. This album lived in my car for seemingly ages and was the soundtrack to a bad weather trip to the Lake District on my iPod. I'll always associate it with the dramatic scenery, awful weather and general melancholy mood of that trip.

I'm starting to fear the competition With their rhymes of such erudition They talk of the sea To win this CD To which I may never get to listen.

Not quite. I've had to change the car last month so the guitar is sorted. The amp on hold for now.
