Very pleased for my man Lewis, he's a genuine talent and always fights hard for the win regardless of weather or conditions, the true sign of a champ ! Did feel sorry for Ricciardo though who has every right to be pi$$ed with Red Bull, what the heck ! Talk about throwing away a win / opportunity! unbelievable really, it's not like they are novices so it shouldn't be happening at this level - no excuses !

Hamilton had the door shut on him ! Really wanted him to win BUT once again he's not held on to his pole advantage from start. This is what has again led to an incident that likely would not have occurred if he'd held his start. It's a problem and a factor even when he does manage to secure pole. Not good and going forward!

Ham's had a a string of bad luck which must pass although as I've said before not holding the start from pole finally came to haunt him with the dreaded shunt at turn one in Bahrain, which I sensed would happen one day. He'll need to get his groove on now. Rosberg has a very handy 36 point cushion which is a race in hand effectively. Ham's my boy though !

If you heard the interview with Toto Wolff, he admitted that they had asked Daimler Benz for help with the clutches. It's clearly not just the fault of the two Mercedes drivers. Good point Martin and makes sense. The way Ferrari AND Williams have literally flew past from start, has made the Mercs's look unnaturally stationery , so yeah they'll know something needs sorting quickly.

Good race, packed full of incidents. Poor start again by Hamilton but great that he nursed his damaged car in. Bad luck Vettel but Raikonnen did well to get and keep 2nd. All the rest of the teams did well and there were some great fights throughout. Grosjean and his Haas car did fantastically well again and pulled off some great moves. Man of the race for me. Agreed. I've been concerned about this and saw it coming though as mentioned in earlier post. The potential for shunt / damage or out of the race as a result of getting caught in the guaranteed frantic jostling for position into turn one is hugely increased when you dont nail the start on the back of your hard earned pole. It was only a matter of time before this happened. Luckily for Ham he made it to the end of the race. Twice on the trot now he's looked on the positive side and expressed being happy with damage limitation. It's great he still manages a second and third after rubbish starts / shunt BUT it's not the best way to utilise the hard work of the advantageous pole position either. Secondly It's early days but already Rosberg is 17 points clear, two out of two and neither wins from pole. Most wins a season tends to be the stat that shows and leads to the title, not seconds and thirds overall.
Vettel wasnt in it today, it could have been a worse turn one. Vettel in particular is aware of the start weakness (from last year) and now rightly looks to expose that from the absolute off. C ome on Ham sort it out and stop making it harder than you need to - If you've nailed pole then nail the blinkin;' start man where you're more likely to keep out of trouble and bag a win !

How Hamilton pulled that fastest lap in quali today was just class and against the run of play all weekend too. He's admitted that this isnt a track he is comfortable with not only pole but the fastest lap ever at that Bahrain track (Webber held that honour up until today that is Poor Rosberg who's been fast and comfortable all weekend. Should be a good race tomorrow now the Ferraris are just about close enough - Hamilton (and Rosberg) need to avoid being overtaken at the start by Vettel and / or Raikkenen as happened the other week at the Melbourne opener and a few times last season. One time too many and it could cost Mercedes dearly as there'll also be the usual frantic jostling for position before turn one where there's real potential for a shunt Dont take your eyes off Vettel at the start tomorrow !

Oh, I think things change when it's race time. Hammy is a far better out and out racer than Rosberg and has proven himself to drive at a different level. Yep, I agree. That said Ham knows he needs to get back to nailing poles. One, to stop Rosbergs momentum of pole wins and two because pole can more or less be a key factor towards securing the win. I'm thinking dirty air and those tracks where it's almost impossible to pass. In a closer / tighter season Ham knows he'll really need those poles.

I really thought Hamilton had Qualy today but Rosberg prevailed - he's really starting to show some form now, a bit late but nevertheless welcome. Hams said somethings changed with regards to how the car feels and he's trying to get to the bottom of that. I for one believe him and that when he's comfortable again he'll find that gnats needed to be back on top again. Rosbergs very comfortable with how his car feels but he wont be when Hams comfy in his again, trust me

Makes sense to me that Mercedes would want clarification of the rules and restrictions around research and development regarding aerodynamics in relation to the whole Hass wind tunnel thing. Ferrari would have likely done the same if the shoe was on the other foot. You dont get to the top or stay there by letting others gain even the slightest of advantages and most definitely when it comes to F1. This response sends the right message out to your competitors ie: you're awake and aware, dont even ever think of trying it !

What a superb controlled drive by Hamilton, especially in the final wet phase. An inspired timely stop for intermediate tyres, too. Good to see him win at Silverstone again. A shame that the Williams got edged out by Vettel, and a real pity that Massa didn't get 2nd for his efforts. Yep, agree on all counts Martin.

I love this cart to bits. The only thing I would say though is that I’ve always found it very sensitive to accurate set up. If this isn’t right it’s fairly obvious - when it is set up well it is an absolute joy of a cart. I always dread having to set it up again for whatever reason as it is very hard work trying to hit that spot again which becomes quite tiresome. My arm is a Micro Seiki MA 202 Specifications Type: static balance universal type Effective length: 237mm Overhang: 15mm Offset angle: 21 degrees Height range: 42-88mm Cartridge range: 4-16g VTF range: 0-3g
I use the Rega Baerwald Arc Protractor (for 222mm mounting distance. I set arm to parallel, Tracking force to recommended 1.5g, anti skate close to tracking force figure, set azimuth . Then, I dial in vta via on the fly where I’ve always managed to eventually find / hit the sweet- spot. Takes a heck of a lot of trying and patience but when it happens I can hear it. As I say it takes an age so my question is does anyone have any tips around this that might make it less painful or even a bit easier? Sometimes it feels as if I’m never ever going to find that spot. I’d never want to give up on this cart which I love when on song. Thanks.

You couldnt make it up. He did everything asked of him and to achieve what he set out to do. Merc have effectively kicked him in the nuts and handed Rosberg a cheap triple. I Feel for Hamilton but he'll bounce back. It also makes things tighter at the top and stops the groanings of certain fans who say it's boring when someone dominates /wins all the time. Well they got what they wanted today - something to talk about.

Having spent a few weeks with the 700 ES , I've been able to go through some of my fave familiar albums. The Sony is good, it oozes build quality both inside and out. It delivers a nice detailed sound in an unfazed, matter of fact kind of way BUT, it doesnt move me in the way that my Technics SUVX-800 integrated and Technics SH8055 eq combo do. The Technics combo really really spotlights what is going on in each individual recording / coupled with showcasing the qualities of the excellent 2M black, being micro detail retrieval, nuances, layers, separate parts, timbre and texture of instruments etc, in a way the Sony alone does not. The overall flavour of the Sony is just not as analogue sounding as my Technics combo, the Technics combo is ace at this. There's more analogue, valve like warmth and more of a sense of realism to each recording that makes the Sony's presentation lean more to the digital side to my ears. Really glad I scratched the big Sony ES integrated itch. It's definitely a good amp - I'll be moving it on though. I knew my system was sounding good but I've learned and appreciate even more now just how good. Secondly, I've also realised that 'audiophile snobbery' has to be avoided (I've felt obliged to ditch my eq at times) as quality of internal electrical componentry does not guarantee sonic boxes ticked. It's not what you've got, it's definitely how it sounds at the end of the day. My set up sounds a million dollars to my ears. That said I've had a speaker itch to scratch for some time now. My Mission 752 Freedoms have been a delight but I'd really like to try some big Spendors as an 'upgrade'... More on that to follow ..........

Hamilton does it again, he is seriously on one at the moment and is now (points wise) a race lead ahead! Yep, da boy is seriously on top of his game at the mo. It's early days but I'd love to see him achieve the 3 titles like his hero Senna. Good to see Raikkonen has found his mojo, well pleased for him .

Brilliant qualifying from Hamilton again under pressure - superb ! Rosberg on the other hand hasn't turned anything around, allowing Vettel to push him to third on the grid. He now has the task of trying to get past a Ferrari (and it's driver) that are on top form (not to mention Vettel second in the Championship) - oh dear !
