Lewis handed it to Rosberg as a result of the dreaded poor start issue. Still not sorted! Sincerely hope he doesn't end up ruing what is now a number of bad starts.

Yeah, Lewis is a great driver, ever focused and always seems to really want it which is the true mark of a Champ. Excellent pole, just has to watch the genuine quick start fret from the Ferraris who'll be breathing hot down the back of his neck from just behind on the second row, which he'll be well aware of.... exciting stuf !

Respect to Massa who announced he'll bow out of F1 at the end of the season. He received sustained applause after the announcement and was naturally tearful and emotional. Some will remember him coming within a whisker literally of the world title in 2008. If I remember there were scenes of jubilation from his father and family only for our man Hamilton to pass Tino Glock on the final corner of the final lap, taking the 5th place he needed to snatch the crown and claim his very first Championship title.

Yeah the revised Freedom has a silk dome tweeter which sits underneath the mid\bass driver as opposed to the metal dome above the mid\bass driver configuration of the originals Chris has. Some people prefer the brighter warmer presentation of the originals. I liked the originals but went back to the Freedom's which I first had and prefer. I enjoyed the time i had with the originals though. In a nutshell they both have the fab qualities of that excellent Aerogel mid \bass driver. Differences being the originals have a brighter warmer, out of the box presentation. The Freedoms having a more balanced slightly in the box presentation. Enjoy your speakers Chris - nice result !

Like you Paul, Having owned the 752's in both incarnations I can whole heatedly say they are superb speakers as can be found by many other audiophiles on the net. As you say Paul, the Aerogel driver is regarded as a gem and in my opinion is - beautiful in the mids / vocals etc. whilst not the deepest bass (as would be expected from 6.5 inch driver) the bass is tight and punchy. Let's put it this way. I fell in love with my 752 Freedoms the moment I bought them on a punt. Decided a bit later to try the originals which I also liked but missed the less bright presentation and overall better balance of the Freedoms which suited my taste.
Then, I got the dreaded sometimes unnecessary hifi itch and tried a brand new pair of B&W CM7's at about £1100 at the time. Guess what, no matter how I tried to live with them I hankered and yearned for my beloved 752 Freedoms which just move me in a way the CM7's didnt. They were sold within a month - totally mint for £800 not including eBays 10% sellers fee. Did I care about that - no !! I was on the search faster than a fast thing for another pair of Freedoms and bagged a mint pair, Black Ash for £150 - very happy days. No matter how much I upgrade my system they just deliver the music beautifully, better and better with each upgrade. They are not afraid of big company. Imaging to die for, texture, timbre and realism, importantly, very musical and non fatiguing too. They are an audiophile bargain on the used market in my opinion. I've read numerous times that you have to spend some good money to genuinely 'upgrade' from these and I'd have to agree. I use mine with a mint Technics 1210 MK5g, heavily modded - Mike New Bearing, Mike New baring base plate, Mike New ETP Platter, Micro Seiki MA 202 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Black MC Cartridge, Ebony Armboard, Custom Cables DC3 External Power Supply (7kgs), Yannis Tome Litz 423.5 pure silver tonearm cable etc etc Every upgrade they reveal what has been brought to the table Sansui AU 919 Integrated Amp ...... Nah! regarded as a genuine classic and they are.

Hi Chris, 752's are great speakers. I've had experience of both versions. The originals which you have and the revised 752 Freedoms. I found the originals good but very bright and warm sounding due to the metal dome tweeter. The mid / bass Aerogel driver is the star of the show on both versions. In fact you should find vocals very good. The revised Freedom is the better balanced of the two in my experience and I still have mine which sound fab. Looks like Mission addressed the brightness of the original 752 by replacing the metal dome with a silk dome tweeter which sits under the mid / bass driver as opposed to above it. Nice speakers which still have a lot of fans and are a bargain buy on the used market.

Cant take a thing from Hamilton. Where he is now, all things considered is to his credit, a genuinely excellent Formula 1 race driver among his peers.
Out of a schedule of 21 races this season we are already down to just 9 races left. Still enough for maybe more twists and turns.
Looking forward to the first race after the summer break at the end of August, in Belgium.

hey Rob how's it goin'? Is the Sansui a keeper for you? Hi Jules / Chris. The Sansui is simply awesome and will be my last amp it's that good. It is the only amp I have ever owned that sounds sublime with tone controls in permanent tone defeat setting. It is in Angus's capable hands at the mo for some diagnostic investigation. Nothing conclusive yet re randomly appearing issue but may result in complete re cap, to be confirmed as nothing conclusive yet. I upgraded to the 919 and Ortofon Quintet Black at the same time and there has never been better sound from my system.

The Sansui should power both well(nice amp from the past) I only heard the S9e a few times and nearly bought some many years ago before I went open baffles I think you really need to hear the speakers first in your room before you purchase I know a lot of people really like the S8e Thanks John. Not heard either but I have made some excellent and intuitive punts over the years, based on doing lots of reading up, owner reviews etc and knowing what I like has really paid off.

Spendor S8e and Spendor S9(non e)
Would appreciate experience / thoughts on these floorstanders
Background I currently have Mission 752 Freedom's which I really enjoy - great speakers. The 8e's and the S9 have caught my eye/ radar as a genuine upgrade. I believe they will carry some of the virtues i love about the Freedoms, particularly and importantly non fatiguing, detailed and great in the mids.
Room 4.5 metres by 3.5 metres Wooden suspended floor
Amp Sansui AU 919 (Big Solid State Integrated)
Thanks in advance Rob

Raise his standards on a personal level ?? Now to the race. He admitted he didnt have the best weekend but as usual he looked forward and the move from start to take first position was excellent - Lewis seldom wastes an opportunity and always shows his hunger to win. Still a long way to go though but he'll be proper pleased about where he is now considering where he was. I think he called trying to claw back the 43 points a mountain.
As for the rules.... a bit extreme and daft at the moment I'd say. The one bit that should remain and makes sense is no assist from the pit with the start. Of course they should 'feel' and engage the clutch themselves, it also makes for interesting and unpredictable starts.

Blimey !! Yep, rules are rules, Hamilton had to abide by them when they sent him out with the wrong settings recently. (although the teams don't think these particular rules are necessary) That now puts the Hammer just 1 single point behind if I'm correct. Hats off to him, it was 44 points not long ago and some were saying it was too much to claw back and the title would be Rosburgs. Still a way to go and Hamilton will likely suffer penalties for number of parts and engines used but he's one heck of a fighter so hang on to your seats going forward.

Hamilton is one awesome talent ! The way he rises to pressure is amazing, another great pole. It would have been easy for his head to drop and to overcook it when his previous leading q3 lap was deleted. Not Mr Hamilton though, true to form leaving the British fans with a huge smile. Pray no shunt from start approaching turn 1 tomorrow.

Wow! It wasn't THAT bad ? What is bad is the engineer not being able to tell a driver which button to press to put his car in the right mode. I understand no assist with the clutch from start and no other 'information' over the radio. BUT they have made the sport deliberately very technical yet if a driver goes out and finds his car has an incorrect mode, he then has to try and work it out himself, within 20 odd plus perpertations and whilst negotiating corners, walls, other drivers etc at crazy speeds. Not only that but because he then cant chase and race to full effect the fans are denied a proper race for better position - It's daft !! On another note, The future.... Button in a Williams replacing Massa and Perez in a Ferrrari replacing Raikkonen ??

Rosberg got it just how he likes it, clear track ahead nothing to do but drive. That said he took pole, held his start, fastest lap and the win. Not a great weekend for Hamilton and more mechanical gremlins, he'd have secured a podium finish otherwise I'm sure. He'll be back and still lots of races to go.

A very rare off day in Quali for Hamilton, he just couldnt seem to get it together. He made no excuses and was honest saying that he just wasn't on it today. Rossy will be chuffed he made pole. He likes leading from the front, clear track no hassle so should be his race but you never know. I'm hoping he doesnt have it all his way.
