There is no right or wrong, necessarily, just preferences, as has been said.
I wouldnt be without my tt/vinyl and cd/cdp - sound is sensational to my ears and works for me.

Pioneer made some serious receivers back in the '70's. The SX-1980, for example, is something, the likes of we'll likely never see produced again, a monster of a thing, most definitely from the heyday of hifi. Massive in every way, physically and one heck of a powerful thing, in fact the most powerful receiver ever manufactured, to date. 270 wpc @ 8 ohms, and still tested to be way more than that, in fact in one test, it was found to be producing nearly 460 wpc short term power, under the test conditions used. Some years ago, when my daughters were little girls, they are 25 and 21 now, The older guy I'd bought my first Pioneer PD-91 cdp from, invited me down to his home, so he could re-attach the cdp's laser lens, which had become detached during courier to mine. Anyway when my friend and I entered his rather nice home, we were taken to an Aladdin's cave of desirable amps, cdps etc, including said SX-1980 - 22 inches wide, 19.5 inches deep, and 8.25 inches high, all 35 kg's of it. Of course we talked about it and other beautiful pieces he had, some for sale, some being repaired, some part of his collection. Unfortunately we didn't get to hear the SX-1980, it was being repaired, but once you've seen one in the flesh you never forget. One of those rare, extravagant, statement pieces all the Japanese manufacturers would produce, competing with each other, during the 70's / 80's hey day. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pioneer_SX-1980 www.tapeheads.net/threads/the-legendary-pioneer-sx-1980.326/gearforlife.com/best-vintage-receiver/

Technics SP-10 MK11 turntable, circa mid 1970's, and Pioneer PD-91 cdp, circa 1988-90 - absolutely love both to bits.

Hey Jules, Good to hear from you too and hope you've been keeping well. The Plinius is excellent in my experience, I love it! Best amp I've ever owned. I would describe it as a true piece of hifi equipment in that it amplifies the source, without hindering it, or getting in the way, so you really hear the music, without smearing, coloration etc, effectively, it lets the source shine. I find it a delineation champion, so all the individual parts and layers are laid bare, accurately, as I say not smeared or merged into each other. Balanced, dynamic, and cohesive across the frequency range, insightful, with depth and a natural degree of warmth, class A/B, but biased heavily to the class A side, very tight weighty bass, effortless power delivery at 200 wpc @ 8 ohms. They dont come up often here for 230v, on the used market, but a bargain whenever they do. I'm about to put a post up asking if anyone knows where in the UK services Plinius as I want it maintained to last as long as I do Nice one Rob, the Plinius sounds like a great find, just the kind of thing I'm looking for at the moment actually ... Did you move on the old Sansui amp? I see you finally gave in and got a phono stage too - I'm sure that must have been a good upgrade ... The Plinny is wonderful and just what I wanted and hoped for, I'm certainly not alone www.audioreview.com/product/amplification/integrated-amplifiers/plinius/9200.html The Sansui is up for sale, it is rare, beautiful and sounds good, I've thoroughly enjoyed it, the four years I've had it, but it cant compete with the 9200. Indeed, the Aurorasound Vida Prima is a cracking bit of kit, like the Plinny, it is honest and truthful and allows the cart to show it's prowess - regarded as a bit of a bargain, considering what these things can cost. It will be all most audio folk will need, which I've read and have to agree, based on my own experience, quality thing. highend-electronics.com/products/aurorasound-vida-prima-phono-stage#:~:text=This%20is%20a%20very%20truthful,from%20your%20thoughts...%22 I'm work from home or in office throughout the week, busy evenings, and weekends in Kent, as I have senior folk to support, but you dont need to hear the Plinny. I didnt hear one, neither the Aurorasound, PD-91, Cadenza Black, or the Spendors, took a punt based on informing myself and trusting the gut instinct and all are fab. The current Plinius Hautonga replaced the 9200 and is, I'm led to believe, pretty much an 'improved' 9200, you may be able to get a listen to one from a dealer. Note, they like to be left on, so do not judge one from cold, only after days on, as a minimum - BIG difference in what you'll hear and appreciate.

I would not be without my vintage Technics SP10 Mk2, Find it to be the perfect platform / foundation for playing vinyl and letting the cart / arm combo shine - totally neutral, metronomic timing, battleship build, a truly professional turntable.
My Pioneer PD-91 is why I will never get rid of my fave cd's collection. Every time I rest it, due to never ending vinyl front end addiction, the rare moment I decide to give it a look in, for whatever reason, ie: preserving cart life, is when it ends up in use for a very long time, relegating the tt for a while, as I am reminded how musically satisfying this beautiful machine is. It not only looks fabulous IMO, importantly it plays 'music', and moves me every session. Fail it may and I'll cry, but if at all possible, it will always remain in situe, on its shelf, as a key part of my set-up, that is going nowhere.

They were never going to change a thing, never. money talks, change of guard. Nearly half of Holland at every F1 race, equalling big money that they want to guarantee keeping and carry forward / increase by giving them a champion to now follow - stinks! As I say, money talks

I totally get the point they are trying to make BUT, please let common sense prevail otherwise conspiracies transpire and this is case in point. Simply give a warning and emphasise that it is one of the rules, can be potentially very dangerous for him IF there was to be a shunt of some kind. Also make other drivers aware of warning/fine issued, as way of reminding said point you want to make/emphasise - that's common sense though so no, maybe not

What an extraordinary weekend for Mercedes and Hamilton. A total of 25 grid-place penalties and he won the race from 10th, including being driven off the track at one point. Simply magnificent. Classification 1 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 1:32:22.851 2 Max Verstappen Red Bull +10.496s 3 Valtteri Bottas Mercedes +13.576s 4 Sergio Perez Red Bull +39.940s 5 Charles Leclerc Ferrari +49.517s 6 Carlos Sainz Ferrari +51.820s 7 Pierre Gasly AlphaTauri 1 LAP 8 Esteban Ocon Alpine 1 LAP 9 Fernando Alonso Alpine 1 LAP 10 Lando Norris McLaren 1 LAP 11 Sebastian Vettel Aston Martin 1 LAP 12 Kimi Raikkonen Alfa Romeo Racing 1 LAP 13 George Russell Williams 1 LAP 14 Antonio Giovinazzi Alfa Romeo Racing 1 LAP 15 Yuki Tsunoda AlphaTauri 1 LAP 16 Nicholas Latifi Williams 1 LAP 17 Nikita Mazepin Haas 2 LAPS 18 Mick Schumacher Haas 2 LAPS R Daniel Ricciardo McLaren R Lance Stroll Aston Martin Indeed - amazing ! IF the FIA are saying you can drive a man off track like that, so much so that you take yourself off as well then words fail me. My other gripe was the Sky guys asking Toto if he was happy that his car was legal etc etc and then asking Horner pretty much the same - out of order. Not a sniff of these types of questions put to to Red Bull in any interview whilst their car has been a rocket from the get go, all season - what is going on?

The PlanetF1 comments section is akin to YouTube comments. Unfiltered and full of low-life nasty comments by people who have appalling bias and obviously no love for the sport itself. The race didn't get better, the Mercedes cars struggled against the Red Bulls and I think the championship, barring DNFs, is over. Have to agree Martin, shocking and pretty hateful at times - types who give zero credit to LH no matter how he wins or performs in a race. If he won carrying it on his head, they'd say it was because of the high tech in his trainers. It's why I actually dont want RB/MV to win, because of the nasty, hatey, low lifes who will love it to the core, use it to fuel and support their ignorant, nasty negativity and are literally salivating at the prospect of LH not winning the title this year
