I have heard good things about the Audiolab. Better than a Cambridge Audio by all accounts. Hope it all goes well. Cheers Karatestu

So far then I'm super happy with the vinyl front and that wont be going anywhere that I can imagine, brings much satisfaction.
Digital side is where changes will defo occur. I'm done with nice vintage cdp's no matter how regarded they are. It's time to move on there so I'll be going the stand alone cd transport, coupled with a good DAC route and see how I like that. When that happens I'll report back on my findings.

Incidentally, what was the main thing that made you give up on the vinyl front end ? Good question, and I don't want to unduly diss a format I have loved for well over half my life. It came down to a moment of revelation back when I was experimenting with streaming and found myself listening more and more to Spotify with the Beresford SEG DAC. I heard the potential and had a long think about it. I knew that I couldn't take my vinyl front end any further without spending a ton of money on it, and I saw new releases becoming increasingly rare. Streaming offered me a way of going well past vinyl's limiting sound quality (little did I know how far) and also giving me access to a catalogue that I would need many lifetimes to accumulate in a collection. Once I had that thought, there was no turning back. I could blame jandl100 too! Thanks Martin - not that I necessarily agree with the 'limiting sound quality' bit, I think analogue and digital offer a difference in my own experience, but yeah, I understand your reason for the pursuit and you're certainly extracting every last drop, from what I know

It's almost there since I made a radical change and redesigned it for streaming only, two years ago. Optimise and tweak are the watchwords now, I'm not considering any major component changes. Sounds a good place, on the journey..... Incidentally, what was the main thing that made you give up on the vinyl front end ?, as you know I know you had a pretty good one. I ask out of curiosity as I just couldn't see myself giving that side up, it brings too much joy, so It'll always be a part of my set-up until the day I'm just unable to, or haven't got it in me to set up and align a cart properly anymore.
