Hi Mike, As a guide, I paid £60 for collection of cdp from Plymouth, delivered to me in London. I paid £50 for amp pickup from me, London, for drop off to Tipton - Midlands and same for return back to me. I didn't haggle but of course it cant hurt....

I picked this recommendation up from another forum and have used him a few times now. A nice guy who picks up and delivers across the country. He's done pickup of a cd player for me, from Plymouth to London and collection of my amp from me in London, delivered to Alan (Firebottle) in the Midlands, then collection from him, back to me. You can talk to him or message with your requirements, ask for a quote, reiterate handling - do not tilt or put anything on top and so on, if delicate item like cdp etc, like I have/do. It's another option and does feel a bit more personal. He'll let you know if/when he's going where you want him to and you can check with him if something needs collecting after repair, to come back etc etc. Just say Rob,. hifi guy London recommended His details are: Tony - 07939 691170

The 70's alone was just awesome for so many genres of music, a golden, classic era in my opinion - 'popular' music / solo artists male and female and bands, soul, funk, reggae..... Probably the majority of stuf I never tire of listening to is from that era.

Hey Rob, are you not tempted by a streaming set-up to replace cd? Personally I was so happy to see the last of my CDP - they are just too much trouble, too many parts to go wrong, expensive repairs, difficult to find spares etc Absolutely J, the PD-91 is being sold, I've had enough of cdp's and reliability or lack of generally. I'll then go with my first stand alone cd transport coupled with a DAC and see how that goes.

The Sensui has a nice deep sound to it Nice setup Really does John and very neutral/well balanced too which makes for really enjoyable, non fatiguing listening sessions....

Right! Been listening through an album this morning. In truth, moving the amp plug from where it was on right side to left side resulted in a slightly muted, slightly subdued/less open and dynamic presentation to my ear. I tried to be subjective by pretending I wasn't hearing it or being influenced by what I was hearing towards making me appreciate something about it, ie: identify any benefit/improvement. After two sides, I swapped things back/around, so amp plug in right socket and tt-ps into left socket. Whilst subtle, there was definitely more energy, openness and enjoyable boogie/groove to the presentation. The slight subdued/'laidbackness' I detected with amp in left had gone. Maybe my earthing is on the right side socket - no idea. Either way, I'm leaving as was as sounds better and more enjoyable / musical to my ears. Why this is, well as my dear older friend often replies whenever I've asked him the reason for something we've been discussing and he doesn't have the answer - "F&ck3d if I know Robbie"....

I have an un-switched double socket.
I've read that the left hand, earthed socket is the best of the two to use.
I'm curious as to why that is ? also one side takes my 4 way power bar mains extension which holds my tt power supply and and cdp.
Which way round / side would you recommend for amp and then the extension block holding the tt-ps and cdp

Right, my faith in mankind has been restored. They sent me an offer and a message saying once I pay this invoice they will refund the shipping so real price will be as agreed..... Mission accomplished....
