Nice pole for Hamilton under pressure yesterday, now it's the all important race day.
Fans and pundits alike have hoped for rain and guess what? It's wet out there with just over an hour to race start. Rain is going to make things very interesting. Rosberg doesnt like the rain / isnt good in the wet. Hamilton on the other hand doesnt care one jot when it rains and is just as good in the wet. It's a short mad rush to turn one where there's been more than enough drama in the past. If Hamilton can get off to another good start and avoid trouble into turn one then I reckon Rosberg may well get caught up in the usual turn one frantics. I predict a cracking race that is going to be decided at Abu Dhabi - enjoy !!!

His 3 titles don't flatter him at all. He's the second highest race winner ever behind Schumacher. His latest win puts him equal second with Alain Prost! Here's hoping he beats that at the next race. Let's see Britney beat that record! Totally agree and all things considered ! No one said ' here you go, here's three titles'. He was always regarded as a 'talent' and one for the future and has gone out there and fully utilised his God given gift and the opportunities presented before him. What he's achieved is to be commended. Prost himself recognised that which speaks volumes and messaged him to say - quote: '51 and not the end . Well deserved' I for one see that as high and genuine praise from someone who 'knows' and I dont think for one minute would waste his time to send a message like that if he didnt have respect and admiration for our man and what he's accomplished. Yep, I too hope he continues to battle on to even more victories in that 'never give up' spirit that he does.

Ansolutrely, and you know sometimes we change our views as time passes. I absolutely hated Steve Davis at the time. Now I think he's a nice bloke. Same with Marvin Hagler. Sometimes the people we love or hate change too but we don't see it until later. Have to agree. I couldn't stand either Benn or Eubank at the time but have warmed to both of them a lot, over the passage of time.

All strong and clear singularity. I have no facts on anything you've expressed so cant comment on any of it. It's cool though, as all the famous have or have had their fans and those who are otherwise.

Depends on how you define "gained an advantage".
If there had been a barrier there (like at Monza chicane) then it would have been more fair, the advantage was going off in a big way and not losing any time.
I'm not struck on Hamilton by the way. I think he can have the edge on Rosberg, all other things being equal, but his "lifestyle" has blunted that edge on occasions. Guessed you're 'not struck on him' wonder why ? I'm yet to find one person who has come up with a genuinely legitimate reason why they're 'not struck on him' I've even had ear rings and tattoos spouted on another site as 'a reason' like it's a crime for a guy of 31 to express himself. All that stuf makes me like him more. I dont see anything to really dislike the guy for truth be known. He comes across as quite genuine to me, comes from not much and more importantly is top home grown talent. He takes no notice of the 'haters' so good on him and his family. I'm a fan by the way

Blimey! That'll be sweet revenge for Verstappen and compensation for the embarrassment he must have felt being escorted out of the podium room. Vettel on the other hand will likely be spouting even more of his usual Mr Angry expletives....

Another top weekend from Lewis, pole and the win. Unfortunately Rosberg keeps taking second Max says he saw no difference in what he did tio what happened with Lewis at the first corner, basically that Lewis gained an advantage...... I'm actually one of those who thinks it's pretty normal behavior for any one who is of a genuinely competitive nature to moan when things dont quite work out BUT, I do find Vettel a bit much and rather annoying. He moans constantly these day which at times is a bit too intense, disrespectful and aggressive - particularly so today Ricciardo is not happy either with Vettel defending under braking. Whatever, I'm just happy Hamilton got the win and that it isn't over yet

If the F1 powers actually listened to the drivers ideas that would be a good start. The drivers want more speed and excitement too but obviously in a sensible way, not the mad 'death race' ideas Bernie comes out with.

I don't think Toto Wolff helped with his comments either. He said Rosberg was in a difficult position because he needed to avoid a DNF, which others could exploit as a weakness. IMO a comment like that is literally asking for trouble. After backing out of previous duels with Hamilton, I think he's determined to prove a point and we know already that Hamilton won't back out. If it happens, we may then see a similar risk from Ricciardo and "Mad Max" because that one is inevitable at some point. This will be less of an issue with Ricciardo and Verstappen. They showed the other week how they can go at it, side by side, hell for leather and NOT run each other, crash or make contact. Rosberg on the other hand is not good at this stuf at all, it's called race craft. He deliberately took Hamilton out in the Spanish Grand Prix and has shown a number of times that when it comes to it his 'skill' or driving style is to keep the car straight on a corner, forcing the other car off, rather than actually turn and follow the corner round. That's why you are in trouble if you have a full on scrap on track with Rosberg and that's not good for Hamilton, particularly at the mo and has to be avoided if at all possible

Texans were nice but I didn’t risk them too often on my fillings! Anyone remember Cabana? I got into these for a while - they had these little pieces of cherry in them - was certainly different back then … I remember them Jules - loved em. Although though I didnt like too much of the glacier type cherry inside, they were delicious and I was addicted. Had to have one everyday after school in the late 70's

I see a big possibility of them taking each other off before the end of the season. Mercedes will make the usual protestations but now the constructors title is in the bag I don't see it being as big an issue. Yeah, that would be rough indeed, and yes, it could happen and would suit a certain 'berg to do so knowing it would actually benefit him and greatly truth be known

I personally didn't see him as misbehaving, more having a bit of fun which was taken out of context. Those press conferences are very mundane and the format really does need to be revisited. Totally agree - not even a storm in a tea cup but certain people who dont warm to him for whatever reason, jump on it like he's committed the crime of the century - daft ! His suggestion that the fans should ask the questions at such meetings was a good one but we know that F1 doesnt appear to like or acknowledge the ideas of the drivers. Likely the least of his probs at the mo to be honest as he'll be focused on nailing the remaining quali's and races towards somehow turning round the 33 points deficit, oh! and there's bad starts to sort. A very tall order indeed with only four races remaining, BUT it can all change in just one race and if Rosberg has either a very bad one or DNF ..................

The starts the bl@@dy starts !! He needs a miracle now. If he doesn't do it it will be down to starts of all things, even considering the mechanical gremlins. I'm really baffled as to why he's never got on top of the issue - baffled !

Gut-wrenching is exactly what I felt let alone Hamilton - unbelievable ! The win was as good as guaranteed. He did everything that could have been asked of him. Every time he fights back and gets the bit between his teeth, like we know he can - bang ! some kind of issue. Even with the bad starts, if it wasnt for the 'other' stuf happening to his car he'd be miles ahead. I'm a massive Hamilton fan but really dont want to get caught up in conspiracies. That said........ If I ever wanted him to win it this year you can times that by ten now. He deserves it for all his fight, time after time. It would be so sweet to see him do it, this time even more so than the other times. It's in Gods hands - watch this space !

That's exactly my analysis summary of Rosberg too Martin.
Like you pjdowns I'm a massive Hamilton fan and have pondered his season a lot this year. Either way, the Lewis Hamilton we know will most certainly not give up his title without giving it his all, he's a battler. If he gets in the zone and gets his mojo back Rosberg will be second best.

My son and his girlfriend had a drone flying over head taking pictures at their wedding in Bali a few weeks ago. First time I'd seen such a thing and it felt weird. The sound, people looking up overhead. I just kept thinking if that thing drops it's gonna hurt someone a lot.

I don't know how the Merc clutch works on their F1 cars, and I am no expert on clutches. But I do know a thing or two about how the clutch can misbehave in a turbo powered car. Both Lewis and Nico have reported that they experienced too much wheel spin when they released the clutch, which in turn meant that their car ended up moving slower off the line. The problem gets worse if you wind up the revs and then let the clutch go. In a road going car you might find the inclusion of a Limited Slip Differential to counter act this. There are a couple of special tricks that you can perform to counter act the wheel spin and still pull away cleanly. Nico seems to have mastered one or more of these tricks, whilst Lewis is still trying to find one that works for him. I don't think he is getting the right feel for the turbo spool up versus wheel spin effective window. But many old time SAAB driver will tell you the story about the old lady in her Hyundai or Nissan 1.1L car who once beat them off the line after they got the revs far too low or far too high before they dropped the clutch. The Porsche guys are far too embarrassed to recount those occasions. Insighful Stan. He needs to sort it immediately that's for sure, or kiss the title good bye, it's that serious. He's played it down in the past but I've absolutely no doubt that it will be a genuine worry to him right now. He says they and the engineers will be discussing it as a priority I bet today at the race debrief. Heaven knows how many potential points it has cost him including a shunt since the issue first appeared. On the back of the superb weekend he had the win was guaranteed if he'd got off the line, which would have took his 9 points lead going into the race to 16. Instead he's down to just 2 points clear. Now that's costly, just one race and all for just not getting off the line - not good. The other thing is that it has become or is now perceived as a weakness and become the clear point of attack from P2 AND second row - added pressure and increased potential for turn one shuntage out of usual position jostle. Bottom line is, all this has made things very hard, ive been worried about the start thing from its onset. Lewis is a naturally more gifted driver than Rosberg in most people's view and Rosberg wouldn't win the title IF this wasn't happening. I believe if Rosberg bags it it will be because of Lewis beating himself not because of Rosberg being genuinely better and that's with all things considered.

It's plain daft and shouldn't be happening at this level. To potentially lose an F1 title like this would be ridiculous. The problem should have been sorted long ago.
