It can be very satisfying, and financially rewarding, to do car maintenance, but there can be problems, and safety critical issues to deal with.
Firstly I would suggest reading a Haynes (or similar) manual to go through the intended process and become familiar with the task, and note any tools that will be needed.
A jack of some sort, and axle stands for safety.
On older cars, rusted/siezed nuts/bolts can be a real problem, and if something breaks during disassembly you can be in a real muddle.
Be careful with replacement parts, we all know main dealer parts are "expensive", but not all "pattern" parts are of the same standard. Stick with brands you know, or do internet research.
Might help if you know of any mobile mechanics in your area in case you end up with a disabled vehicle on the drive.

I got this on my laptop last night.
Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2.

That Microsoft bit is a bit expensive though.
I've spoken to Currys and it should be collected by their courier for return tomorrow.
Back to the long HDMI lead on the Chromebook for the time being.

My LG TV has the Miracast facility, but come what may I can't get it to work with my Lenovo T540p.
So, a helpful person suggested Chromecast, and I read up on it, and it seemed what I needed, so I ordered a version 3, which came today.
I think I've got the device set up ok on the LG TV, but after a lot of brain ache I found this little gem.
"We no longer support Chromecast setup on a computer. To set up your Chromecast, please use a mobile device."
I don't have (or want) a "mobile device (phone or tablet)" and even my Chromebook (life expired) seems unable to get the required app.

"The science can only get you so far ... but in the end you have to rely on the ear." I like this guy. Designer Peter Comeau discusses the Wharfedale Elysian 4 I linked to earlier in the thread. I've met Peter a few times. He ran World Designs for some time before he was offered his current job, and attended a few of the Audio Talk DIY "fest" events.
A real gent, and a genuine audio enthusiast.

I did some more digging, but not sure if it will help you.
Showa rear shocks.
48531-97283-000 (Tuned suspension)
48531-97282-000 (normal suspension)
Bilstein rear shocks
48531-B2640
If it were me, I'd take one off and measure the open & closed lengths and see how it compares to the Monroe ones.

Is there anything special about the Copen rear dampers ?
There are suggestions that the Move rear dampers are very similar, so these might be worth investigating.

Is there a Subaru parts specialist like there is for Saabs ? Used, new and reimagined Would a Subaru parts specialist keep many parts for a Daihatsu ?

Anyone know where I might get an equivalent for this Daihatsu rear shock absorber? Part number is: 48531B2400. Monroe part number is: Copen 0-4 12. Googled till I'm blue in the face. I like a challenge.
Can you give me the vehicle details (make - model - year ) please, PM if necessary.
In real life I was a Parts Manager in aftermarket parts, and later with franchised dealers.

There is that, but my Surface Pro 7 stubbornly refuses to update so I'll be patient and wait for them. Jeans Lenovo laptop is still waiting, and yesterday it did an update on 1909.
So, after it was finished I tried to manually update to 2004. Initially it said the machine was suitable, but after a while I got a message to say the update was halted, because the machine was not ready yet.
So, guess it will wait till "whatever" is updated.
Is there no way to find out what is causing the delay ?

I'm a big Alonso fan, not sure if Renault are capable of mixing it with the 3 top teams though which will frustrate him, i think the even bigger question is where will Vettel end up after his Ferrari contract expires? personally I like Seb he's got to a stage in his carrier where he doesn't need to prove anything and maybe that's what's missing i don't know, i think he needs a solid season with Ferrari either beating his team mate or within a few points and then i think the offers will start to come. But, where would the offers come from ?

There was a time when "high fidelity" meant getting as close to the original sound as possible.
Now, it just has to sound "good".

Speaking about Hamilton, I understand he is looking for £40 million to renew his contract with Mercedes, And Toto wants Hamilton to take a cut in the region of £20 million.
Now, with Vettel in the wings without a drive next season, could that develop into an interesting situation ?

A pair of these triodes running in A2 sound nice, and act as room heaters.

My first deck was a Garrard AP76, a step up from the SP25 my Dad had.
Can't remember exactly, but the cartridge was probably one of the cheaper M75 (?) Shure variations.

Real bikers used Solvol Autosol to polish aluminium in days of yore.
And I remember one aluminium polish, in a blue plastic container, Belgom Alu.

If you don't mind a bit of DIY, try this.
Go to Ebay and get a TPA3116 50W chip amp, an LT1083 regulator board kit and a toroid transformer 18v - 22v.
Connect it all up on a bit of MDF with a IEC mains socket, 2 RCA phonos for input and 2 pairs speaker sockets.
I'm listening to such a set up right now, and it's good, fantastic for the price.

I've said this before, but any courier service is only as good as the person in the van who does the delivery.
Having said that, the work load some have is tremendous, and they simply don't have time to do things properly.
