I think that other forums should be left to develop their own character and not discussed here.
I do read other forums, with HFS being the hi-fi equivalent of the Beano.
The most friendly forum I partake in is one whose members (in the main) know each other in person through bi-annual meet-ups.

People in "posh" 4 X 4s (mainly women) who won't pull over to let cars pass on narrow roads like we have in rural areas.

When I win millions I would comission Nick Goreham to build me the ultimate DAC and phono amp, and give me technical advice to develop the 833a amps into something more stylish and powerful, and then audition the biggest and best electrostatics that Quad make.
That would do for the drawing room system.
Then I'd add a big, fully equipped workshop so I could build my own hi-fi to my hearts content.

One of the books I have read (can't remember which one) said that when dealing with other people in life it would be good if "we were pleased for them that they were happy being the person they had chosen to be".
Takes some doing when you see what some "arseholes" have turned out like.
I suppose being non-judgemental is a step forward.
Another thing is to try and not like what people do without not liking the person themselves. Does that make sense ?
And lastly, my dear old Mum says "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." If only we all could.

I've sold one of my classic scramblers, the Triumph Metisse, as it had not been used in anger for quite a while.
With the "dosh" I've got myself a more modern road bike, a BMW R1200 ST.

I was going to reply, but I won't.
Go to dash as todays lunchtime concert at Long Melford church is four saxophones and I don't want to be late.

From what I read on HFS (the hi-fi comic ) they would like to mount some sort of "campaign" to get all their banned members reinstated.
Seems classicrock has kicked off.

That is a meaningless term outside of each persons own definition. I think that is taken for granted on here Daniel.

At the moment andre as offered no facts just rhetorical contradiction. I eagerly await his facts. You might be waiting some time young man.
I'm prepared to take what Andre says at face value.

I can only repeat saying again that I am really surprised people can be so intolerant over something as insignificant as an avatar using 5 frames of pictures. I'd hate to think how they would respond to real-life situations that really matter. I can only imagine. I'm reminded why I never bothered with forums in the past. I did think this one might be a tad different though. Anyway, just for all you sad buggers out there (you know who you are) - it's been changed - as you can see. Perhaps I should look for a humour forum. Individuals here do appear to have a distinct lack of it. I hope you stick around. You contribute meaningfully and add colour. I didn't mind your flashing avatar either, although it still didn't beat the kitten on Wigwam. I agree.

I've got a chrome add on that stops moving avatars! Now if only there was one for reducing large type. Or one for an injection of humour. Nice one Mr Whippy.

Thanks for the tip but it does not work in Chrome on a Mac sorry. I am sure most Windows IE viewers will find it works for them. The ignore setting is great you see nothing whatsoever about the poster, not just their text but who, the whole left side of a post, signature, the lot. As I am currently only ignoring one person it is no mystery who one is ignoring. So far I have resisted any urge to use the Display Post button and if the soul seldom gets quoted their output just isn't there. Good to see the topic being aired. One cannot help but wonder if it will end in tears if it ends at all I've learned to be happy with myself, so I'm not too worried if anyone wants to ignore what I say, it's only a forum about hi-fi for pitys sake. If people do not have the tolerance to accept a little bit of individuality then that's their tough titty. Live, and let live I say.

Larger font is simply bad forum etiquette and is generally regarded as shouting. Frowned upon or even banned on other forums. Don't see why a certain individual should have been indulged here. I don't agree.
I've changed to size 2 now, but even size 3 is hardly BIG.
