An isolated/insulated HiFi room where I don't annoy the wife when playing my tunes.

When I win millions I would comission Nick Goreham to build me the ultimate DAC and phono amp, and give me technical advice to develop the 833a amps into something more stylish and powerful, and then audition the biggest and best electrostatics that Quad make.
That would do for the drawing room system.
Then I'd add a big, fully equipped workshop so I could build my own hi-fi to my hearts content.

Have to think about that one but sorting out a suitable room would have to come first .

Not too sure as I simply do not know enough about hi end kit. However,I've always had a thing for Audio Note so a Kegon would be nice along with a set of horn type speakers. There was a review in one of the mags years ago with this set up and I've wanted it since then. Tube Technology and Musicarch amps are pretty high up there as well but I think all in I would like to commission an amp. Love the individuality.

( pics not working ) linky below They look like son-of-Infinity-IRS. Have you heard them? There are too many ultimate systems that are technically superb but don't make music. I would be extremely cautious not to end up with half a million's worth of unmusical ship's anchor.

A house in its own grounds where I could play music at any time/volume without worrying about the neighbours. Till then, my Stax headphone systems are a good compromise for late night listening.
I have no real hankering for mega-expensive equipment which, to me, seems mostly to be expensive for the 'exclusivity' the price tag provides, rather than for any massive sonic superiority.

I would commission nick Gorham, Colin Wonfor, Doede Douma and an equally brilliant speaker genius to give me 60 working days and show ME how to make the ultimate kit they can make.

Construct my ideal listening room in the right location.
Equipment I will need to wait a few years for my ideal speakers, however it will be worth the wait.
Just need to make sure the workshop is built as part of the audio complex.

An oast house converted into a living space and a recording studio. I'm too old to run it now, but it was always my dream as a younger man. The ideas was that with enough money already in the bank to support us I could let the studio out to unsigned local bands for a nominal fee.

It's easy for me. I'd move to the USA where the sort of kit I like is plentiful. I'd have a wide variety of American kit in hand and rotate it.

Hi-Fi would be the last thing on my mind if i won millions.
I think id probably have two stations to live here & Europe. Id travel around Europe attending as many Goa/Psychedelic Trance festivals as possible. especially the ones around Croatia & Hungary. Just generally enjoy life out of the UK...

Revisiting this, it's always a fun mental exercise. My lottery win would go to:
1) Taking care of my retirement, my family and loved ones with some wise investments 2) Upgrading but not trashing the hi-fi system I have spent years building 3) Buying a house up north or in Wales or somewhere with peace and quiet, a great view and a good listening room 4) Buying an 18-19' powerboat (perhaps a Regal) on a trailer that I can tow and service myself 5) Travelling to some places still on my list of must-visit-before-I-die

As Friday afternoon is gently passing, my tolerance for spreadsheets and component selection is disappearing faster than the self assured smugness of the self appointed intelligentsia of audio and the self believe of a select few corner huggers led by the IQ scarce cyber bully.
I sit and reflect on how best to share my good fortune with some of the more unfortunate in life.
Charitable donations to worthy organizations would be made in hard items such equipment required:- Heart monitors, defibrillators, scanners.
Holiday for those people that deserved the break for what ever reason that was genuine rather than hard cash, as the red tape in side these organizations can swallow a lot of the donation through running costs.
So why not just pledge the piece of equipment / service / building.
Also on this theme, I feel that certain members of the community would benefit from a dedicated Cognitive behavioral therapy specialist which I would be happy to fund.
Knowing of at least three people who qualify for this due to various reasons I would looking to assist them in this manner as it seems obvious that society seems to by them by.
Just this issue stands out for me today maybe the weather has stimulated thoughts patterns who knows.........

Charitable donations to worthy organizations would be made in hard items such equipment required:- Heart monitors, defibrillators, scanners. I am reminded of the story about the elderly Scottish couple who scooped a massive win on the Lottery. As they sat in their tiny cottage talking over their good fortune, the wife said to the husband 'There's just one wee problem, Rabbie, what'll we do about all the begging letters?' 'Keep writing 'em!' the husband replied.
