I ran the PC health check app to see if my laptop was eligible for W11, and it failed on the "secure boot" facility.
I can enable secure boot in the BIOS, but seemingly I also need to make it UEFI only, and disable CSM support.
Are these settings in the BIOS as well ?

Thanks all. I had a quiet day and a pub meal midday. Last year was a milestone (70) and Mr Reaper is edging up on me. Slowly at the moment, I'm in no hurry to catch up with him.

I see that the hole Bottas is digging for himself got a tad deeper today.

It looks like updates to W10 version 21H1 are coming through.
Jeans laptop is updating now, but my laptop has not been offered it yet. I'll try my PCs later.

So, find the wi-fi problem and fix it.
Can you move the router (or wi-fi hub) ?

That's why I suggested trying a USB dongle. They are quite cheap on Ebay, many available for £10 or so. But, if you'd rather buy a Chromebook. Cheaper and easier the better Will it work on Apple ipads ? I can't say as I've never owned anything made by Apple, but, if it's got a USB port I can't see why it wouldn't. Have you tried moving the Apple closer to the router ? Or, trying the Apple in a location with known good wi-fi ? It's not rocket science.

Apple has the wifi built in I thought. Also assumed it was an Apple problem more than wifi That's why I suggested trying a USB dongle. They are quite cheap on Ebay, many available for £10 or so. But, if you'd rather buy a Chromebook.

Sort the Wi-fi issues out first ?
You could try a USB dongle for Wi-fi, that's what I do on Jeans Lenovo laptop. The Wi-fi stopped working after she dropped the laptop on the floor.

Now that Hamilton is ready to sort out a new contract for next year, will he persuade Toto to keep Bottas as number 2 driver ?
The last thing Hamilton would want is a team mate capable of beating him on a regular basis.

Mazepin seems to be the most hated driver in F1 in recent times.
Rumour is that Haas wants to sell up and Mazepin snr will buy the team to keep his son in the drivers seat.
Also rumoured is that the Mercedes team will sell out to Ineos for next season.

I've just received a system message telling me that my operating system "auto-updates," cease in June. I didn't realise that there was some sort of expiry date. For anyone using a Chromebook, there's a link to a list of major models and their OS update cease dates below. I should stress that the machines will keep on working perfectly, there just won't be any more updates to the Chrome OS that resides on them when the date is reached. support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6220366It must be time for me to at least start looking for a replacement. Because of that I converted an old W10 laptop to the Chrome operating system. Not a proper Chromebook but as near as you can get, and no updating problems.
I would convert my Lenovo Thinkpad Chromebook but the procedure is more complicated.

Well, a bit of progress.
The 20H2 update just would not load, so I left it a day or so and tried again. This time I was offered a 1909 update, which again would not load.
Anyway, I did some research and found some info about DLL files being the culprit. I ran some files I found on a web site to do something to DLL files and after that the 1909 updates were downloaded and installed.
Now waiting for another invitation to download 20H2.

I spoke too soon.
After downloading, and then installing, it's now undoing changes made to the computer.
GRRRRRRRRRR.
Seemingly the 1909 version is dead now, and the update was a Microsoft suggestion.
PS
Tomorrow I will try the laptop hard drive in my spare PC, which I know has previously updated to 20H2.

Gorgeous speakers - not surprised so many punters are 'watching' them. I always wonder why people watch "buy it now," items. I have had "buy it now" items offered to me at a discount because I was watching them.
My greatest deal was on a pair of Russian filament chokes for my 833a valves, the seller offered me a substantial discount and I took up the offer.
