I'll kick off with the 47 Laboratory Koma turntable and Tsurube tonearm. The deck features contra-rotating platters and the arm is, well, mad (says the owner of a Dynavector)!

This is the 47 Laboratory RS-A1 tonearm. The cartridge 'hangs' from the arm. One can only imagine what goes on inside this company.

Weird....
It is a joint award for my more humble example, not only mad but also ugly. I give you the NAD 5120:
I'm sure someone will tell me the arm is a masterpiece of design but it just looks so odd, couple that with the 'styling' of the deck as a whole, well....

Great thread! Ed Meitner's AT-2 turntable. Mad and also rather beautiful. The platter is a label sized flywheel. No other suport for the record.

Great thread indeed.
What stunning kit - and yes what goes in inside 47 labs and some of the other's heads

No other suport for the record. seeing this one reminds me of when I was first converted back to vinyl. The salesman said to me "just try resting the record at the label on three drawing pins". Try it some time!

Oh I can top that
I spoke to some Fraggle friends earlier and apparently they have developed their own unique design of turntable...

Mine has a BIG screen Chris, it's on the bridge... Oh, and this one has 10 speeds, Impulse to Warp Factor 9...

A somewhat different dimension of mad, but still there I think; gentlemen, the Technics SL-700: Only a single pair of these were ever manufactured. This is an image of the prototype - the final product had a straight tonearm.
