When I'm ready I'm going to try the PSU split to allow a separate 5V feed to the DigiOne.

Clive adding a decent Ethernet cable will take things further I was using cat 7 and now use an Meicord cable I am thinking of adding an Acoustic Revive lan isolator but a bit expensive I was not successful in mounting my drive via the Ethernet just using the Ethernet cable for Spotify Oh no....not Ethernet cables. Mine arrives via my ring main, I hope I don't have to replace this with OFC copper! As for getting Windows to share music files; I've read that many have trouble getting this to work, I'm not surprised! I think every PC is setup differently so there's no easy answer. I found I had to enable Network Discovery, allow public sharing without passwords and put the music in \Users\Public\Music and even so I still needed a password to access the files but at least it works.

Oh no....not Ethernet cables. Mine arrives via my ring main, The homeplugs you use create more electrical noise on the mains than you can imagine. They really are the worst offenders, just by the nature of how they work. And that noise does have audible knock on effects in your audio system. Wired ethernet is the best way to hook stuff up.

Yeah, I'm very aware of that and have resisted the darned things for years until now. Getting an ethernet cable from my router to my music room will be a royal pain but it is on the list of things to do, fortunately I have a drill which is long enough to go through a wall but it may not be RJ45 sized, I need to check. For now homeplugs are the only viable way.

I made Wi-Fi work for me but it was problematic. Anything to avoid Homeplugs!

I manged to break through the wall and expand the hole to RJ45 size. I now have my PC file server and Pi connected via a hub with yes a long patch lead back to the router. Amazingly the longest lead I had was about 6 inches longer than I needed, not 6 inches too short, it must be about 15m.

Have you thrown your Homeplugs away yet?

Have you thrown your Homeplugs away yet? They have their uses. I can now plug one into the hub in my music room and the other can be used when needed at the extremities of our 4 floor house. The master plug in my music room will only be connected and switched on when needed. This way I won't pollute my mains unduly.

You need to disconnect them both to listen to pollution-free music.

You need to disconnect them both to listen to pollution-free music. Naturally....they are both disconnected. The "master" unplugged unless in use and the other will float between my study and media room. Wifi to these rooms can be poor on occasion due to too many other wifis being close to these rooms. Yes, I have tried changing channels but the other buggers move theirs around automatically so aren't consistent.

A mesh wi-fi system like the BT WholeHome that I use is a revelation compared with single hubs and repeaters.

I know it been said before but the combination of DigiOne with the Caiman SEQ still suprises me just how good this is and with a few tweaks how much better it gets Just finished a 3 hour listening session and I was just totally engaged with the music all the way through

Me too, I had to tear myself away tonight. I intended to put a couple of tracks from Yello's Touch on but it's so monstrously fun that I ended up listening to all of it and half of Toy, too!

Agreed.
Love the design. Not keen on the price at all

I may go for it on account of the better shielding.

> CNC machined (vs extrusion mold for many others including our USBridge) leads to cleaner lines and high precision cuts.
2> Integrated heat dissipation on the middle layer which drastically lowers operating temperatures of the RPI and thus improving overall functionality (heat test)... This is not a negligible point, especially if you run your player like a true audiophile.
3> easy to assemble for the DIYs. We will release a video next week, but its no more than a few minutes and 1 screw driver.
4> functional & discrete. All the peripherals are easily accessible, no cross contact issues, yet small.
5> Different design >> lets face it, we are dealing with an RPI and add on HATs. We are limited in many aspects when designing the case as we need to keep access to all the connectors. if you look at all the cases out there, there are very small design differences between them, we wanted to offer something different. I copied this from Computer Audiophile

Seems fair enough. No mention of RFI shielding!
