I'm very lucky that my Royal Mail parcels guy is 101% reliable and a very nice chap to boot. He works like a Trojan. The other day he even apologized for delivering an hour or two later than he usually does round my way. What a gent.

I don't think I've heard of anyone involved in that recording - doesn't happen often!

Sir Anthony, I thought you were bound by the Official Secrets Act not to discuss it until 2070!

Back in 1982 one of my favourite albums was the debut LP by Dutch rockers Vandenberg. I saw them supporting the Michael Schenker Group that year and was blown away by Adrian Vandenberg's guitar mastery - highly melodic and unshowy, not a million miles away from Lord Schenker himself. Anyway the band only lasted a few years and then Adrian got his gig in Whitesnake. He then disappeared from the music scene for ages and made a name for himself as an artist, before surfacing again musically in 2020. Today sees the release of new album Sin and it's fantastic to hear him again playing classic style hard rock and in this kind of form - he's still a player. Such a shame the album launch gig was cancelled, was so looking forward to it ...

Wow. Just wow. JEG slaps and punches a singer for his supposed misdemeanor. slippedisc.com/2023/08/exclusive-sir-john-eliot-gardiner-quits-trojans-after-singer-incident/< A representative of Sir John Eliot Gardiner told slippedisc.com that he was suffering last night from extreme heat in France and suspects that a recent change in his medication may have provoked a behaviour that he now regrets. > I don't think that will wash ... The BBC are looking into it as well as JEG has a Prom coming up soon. So they should.

I'm going to buy the Redmi Note 11 if they ever get it back in stock. Because it has all the features I want I'm willing to accept that they will have taken a few liberties with the OS.

Surprised and disappointed to hear that Samsung are now playing this game. I'd always assumed that Samsung would give you a 'pure' Android experience.
Forget Apple, there are a number of Chinese mobile phone producers that tinker with Android. My son has a Poco phone that does this but he likes it a lot and much of the bloatware can be disabled.

Anyone like 'golden age' Hollywood drama?
If so I can recommend The Lady From Shanghai on Prime. Starring Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth who just looks impossibly perfect with the stunning photography. Naturally in such a film you are given ample opportunity to assess this. The chemistry between the two of them is palpable in every scene of this noir melodrama.
Oh and the fairground finale suggests where The Man With The Golden Gun and Enter the Dragon might have got their inspiration from!

This is the frustration of dealing with such companies - it's as though you are speaking to a bot and not a real person. Surely a real person would have read your comments and not come back with such a ridiculously misplaced question? Unless their goal is just to reply very quickly with a stock phrase, whether relevant or not. It's possible they are dealing with so many complaints this is what happens. Pure conjecture on my part ...

So, Talk to Me IS a remarkable film.
I couldn't call it enjoyable as such but I was utterly gripped and taken in by it. Superbly crafted by guys who have obviously studied the classics, I think it will gain its own place in the pantheon.
Be warned, those of a nervous disposition should give it a wide berth. It takes a LOT to make me jump; I did several times. Makes 99% of horror films look like The Brady Bunch.

Are all the pauses in his delivery for dramatic effect?
There seems to be quite a lot of ego involved. And too much blather about the aesthetics etc
Not sure I will take him up on his $200 ph consultancy service.

I'm already two ep's into Shelter and loving it so far. It reminds me of the 1980's US teen dramas but given a much darker twist. Performances are really excellent, especially the young lead actor and it's very well crafted as a whole. I'm looking forward to seeing how the mystery unravels ...
