I have built a fanless pc that holds a digital music collection (ALAC) feeding a Musical Fidelity M1 DAC. Vinyl is via a Technics SL150 Mk 2, Origin Live RB300 and a Shure V15 VXMR. The sound is detailed and realistic. I just always wondered what a IVDR would bring to the show. Yes I'' use PayPal and if its not dual reg then I will return it.

Well, the chance to use 2 IV DR's is here...just using my CEC TL02 and Musical Fidelity Trivista DAC into ProAc Response 2.5 speakers. Will write my impressions in due course. Have some pics to post but not quite sure how...here goes! I may have an opportunity for another IVDR, at least to borrow if the owner's reluctant to sell. As rare as XVI monos are, I wonder how bi-amping with two IVDRs might sound like, given my positive experience with biamping Super VIIIs?

Won't fit on my amp, it doesn't even have RCA outs, just an umbilical to the pre...

FWIW yours was better than a 7/9/Dual 4 Regulated anyway. I compared then back to back

I bought a new Dual VII in the late '80s to replace the older VII: it was indeed far batter than the standard VII, especially when I ran it with two VI PSUs. I never got the chance to run it with a IX pro PSU though. I reckon that Dual VII/IX PSU on eBay at £600 would be a very good buy...

I have seen that a lot of people rate the XVIII as good as the VII pre amp - not sure myself as I have never heard the VII but I certainly know the XVII is pretty impressive.

If anyone hears of either XVIII mono's or a Mk 2 IV DR available, please let me know as I would be very interested in trying them out!

I had the IX & XI and always wondered what the dual VII was like Yeah, I've had a couple of IX/VII pairings. First time I had A dual VII and a III together with a IX and a Dual IV (actually I had a couple of IIIs but both were identical. The III was and is in another league. last time was a VII, IX, Dual IV regulated against the ancient III/IV. It wasn't even close as the old timer easily beat it's younger sibling on all fronts. Unfortunately I've never tried the X1. I've had lots of Dual and single VIIs but not really head any difference. Once you've had a III it's hard to get excited about the VII.

So are you saying that in your opinion the IX, III is the ultimate pre amp? Thanks

I'd say the III is the best Exposure preamp I've tried. the IX is very well made and a lovely thing to own but unless you're using vinyl, it's not essential . With CD I heard little or no difference between the VI and the IX. My IIIs went to VII owners who also thought it was in another league to the VII.
I not sure about the circuit layout, but the III has vertically stacked cards rather than the VII's single or dual PCBs. There should be some internal pics on here from the one i was getting noise from. They are pretty rare items these days but I really hope one day to have another.

Sorry for the long silence. Had the chance to test biamping with two IVDR's...one an earlier version with a single set of speaker outputs per channel and the other, a later version with two sets of speaker outs per side. So...pics first. I'm a newbie with posting pics on forums. Will try with Flickr. Here goes...: flic.kr/p/QZJnV8www.flickr.com/photos/146443474@N05/shares/1F1495I hope you can see both IVDRs and the XI preamp with the IX power supply used with it. Ah...well, at least the link should work. Took me quite a while to put these together. I even tried several preamps...VII dual, XI (with VI, XII or IX power units) and XIX.
So...several permutations there!
All those went into either IVDR alone and also into both, in a "horizontal" biamp arrangement.
Only a pair of Proac Response 2.5 speakers were used. Sources were Voyd turntable with Helius Aureus arm and Musicman moving iron cartridge and Naim CD5 with Flatcap.
I'll go into greater detail later regarding my impressions but I'll leave you for now with what I finally settled on to enjoy my music in peace :
XI+IX, into the later version of the IVDR biwired with Chord Co Epic cables.

Looks good, that's a IVDR and IVDR2 you have there.
