Well I find that Naim to my ears has a one note Bass and I like Bass because it can reflect the PSU standard, and I have been designing for most of my life in Electronic,s huge power supplies, interleaved with bursts of audio design which I love but never holds the keys to wealth and mortgage paying as PSU designing does. But neither of these was my first career choice, I started as a Chemist but hated the danger of the work, seeing my bosses with fingers and eyes missing. So now I take the danger of folk hating my work and slamming my designs with interleaved periods of forced retirement. But I love it when it sounds right with deep controlled BASS., not the sound I hear from Naim.
All points of view from the individuals involved with this reply are there own and not to be misread as facts for the majority of Naim lovers.

I have a Dual regulated IV and was wondering if anyone knows where I could get it serviced and recapped. I'm pretty sure it is original spec so could do with being looked at? Ged

Good morning Ged, welcome to The Audio Standard. It's nice that you've found us. Why not start a thread in the Welcome area (click here - Hello From New Members) so that folks can say Hi? As for your question, it may help to give some idea of your whereabouts in case someone knows of someone close to you. Cheers and welcome once again.

Ged Having spoken to Tony at Exposure earlier this this year, he said not to bother recapping my XVIII power amp as there is no real point. Worth giving him a ring to confirm whether it's the same for the IV DR. P.S. If you ever decide to sell the IV DR, let me know please

Hi
Its a UX-1 Universal CDP, not an X-01. A fabulous player, with more than enough bass power.

Hello, everyone...I just joined. Feels good to be here!
Been reading the thread on old Exposure amplifiers and the recent posts, especially the one on Mono XVI by boxoffrogs, other posts by Sovereign and others... gave me the impetus to jump into the pool.
I run two separate Exposure systems side by side, one with bi-amped Super VIII's and the other with a Dual Regulated IV...both running from a VII preamp fed by a XII psu, switching back and forth between the two through either Epos ES11 or Royd Abbot speakers, as the mood strikes.
There seems to be so much interest in the old Exposure amps, it's quite amazing to note the love and devotion to them.
I started some years ago with an integrated XV but when I dove headlong into the world of tubes and high sensitivity speakers, I gave that XV to my brother who loves it, so musical through his standmounted Proac Response 1's...he's so pleased.
Early last year I re-entered the world of Exposure with the two Super VIII's. The Dual VII came first with a VI psu, quickly followed by a XI preamp with XII psu. After a while, I gravitated to using the VII with the XII.
Sources are an old Linn LP12/Ittok/Ortofon MC Super 15 and Meridian 602/Bel Canto DAC2 CD.
There are other bits and bobs around the house but I will leave that to another day...
Great to be here!

Blimey a UX-1 even rarer, they were one of the first to genuinely produce 24fps very decent images could be had with this DVD player
We sold very few of these back in the day, basically the used an X-03 single dac board for cd playback with the better X-01 transport good machine
Still have one some where And a G-0Rb clock some felt the UX-01 delivered better musicality then the X-01 just could match its resolution or heft I liked both great players
I know when TEAC pulled out of having a UK base at Watford a few years ago they released a couple of NOS UX-01 in the market at a little above cost
Nice to see one in use

Thank you all Another shot: Beautiful room and super rig you've got there boxoffrogs...quite inspirational, I can just imagine the many hours of listening pleasure you spend in there! Btw...iianm, I had read on pinkfish that the guy with the four XVI monoblocks was in poor health at the time. If you were indeed that person, I wish you the best of health

Thank you Keramat - I am indeed that person. When I wasn't in great shape, I spent a lot of time in that room, attempting to play everything I owned (never touched the surface), because, well, you know...
I've owned (or borrowed/heard) just about every iteration of Exposure amplification. The love affair started during a listening session at Cleartone Audio in Bolton, early 80s. The VI, VII & VIII was clearly better than a Naim combo it was set up against, and when I eventually had some dosh I bought the shop dem set up. The only ones I 'bought blind' were my first pair of XVI Monos, but I'm so glad I did. As good as a IVDR can be, the XVIs are simply in another league. They don't appear for sale often (the last pairs I saw for sale were Farlowe's own), but it does happen. Look out for eBay in Germany & the US.

It would be interesting to hear it with a G-0Rb Clock, but they don't often appear
