Ive had a love for these amps for nearly 30 years. I always find them rich, rewarding and emotionally satisfying. Not the clearest sounding amps but that never seems to matter when you get drawn in. I've recently bought another set of Exposure amps following a chance purchase of an X integrated that reminded me just how nice these amps are to listen to. Are the any other Exposure lovers out there? Anyone really dislike them? All experiences good or bad are welcome. What about the current stuff? I always liked the original Onix amps so I''m sure Exposure under Tony Brady will have some good kit. What other bits have people paired Exposure amps with? I'm enjoying this set with Minstrels right now but I'm refurbng some Dean Altos which should be fun too. I've pasted a pic below but would love to see other pics. I used to have a 3/9/Dual 4 which was fab. I'd love another 3 preamp.

Yes I also am still very keen on Classic Expo amps, have a soft spot for them. My first Expo piece of kit was the IVDR Power amp, I instantly loved the size and weight of the sound it presented me with. I'm racking my brain but I can't remember what pre amp I was running the IVDR with. After a short while I upgraded what ever pre amp I was using at the time to a Exposure XVII which again I loved. After this I upgraded the XVII to a XI Pre amp with a whopping IX Power supply. In all it was a very big, meaty, extremely fast sound that had great tonal colour and delicacy. I've got lots of pictures of them all including the internals. I'm away for a couple of weeks but when I'm back I'll post some pictures.

Closest I get to Exposure was they were used to power my main system Isobariks actively.
Hang on, I lie
Their speaker cable is wonderful. Looks like a NACA5 clone and come very close to Tellurium Ultra black in sound quality.
So if their amps are anywhere near as good as their speaker cable.....

Nearly bought a Amplifier when I first got into HIFI I kind of regretted I did not buy as the other amp had more upgrade possibilities but looking back I think I would of kept the Exposure longer

There is a huge Expo following on Pinkfishmedia which is where i used to hang out. I also had their speaker cable. It has been in a box for a few years as I had been using NVA LS6 and TQ black. Someone was wanting to buy it which I agreed to, I thought I should try it again before I sold it on, I really didn't like what I heard; to me it was very. Wooly and closed in. Horses for courses I guess.

I've never owned any but remember hearing them sounding well quite a few times. I first saw them in a place called Brighton Hi-fi, which had some sort of connection with the company, I think. Funnily enough that was the day I first saw the Onix gear too. Also my first Michell Syncro!

The sound of the Exposure cable was dramatically improved by swapping out the horribly poor banana plugs and (SpeedySteve) soldering on some Z plugs.
While it had the naff banana plugs it saw off the TQ black and wasn't that far behind the Ultra. That was Naim 500 to Isos and Chord to Isos
I think a comparison to Ultra black now would be very close either way

The first thing I did when I got these was lift the lids to admire the build quality. They really are things of beauty inside. These are 80s models and have the original smoothing caps, so I was planning on re-capping. They sound so sumptuous, I just can't bring myself to do it. The speaker cable is also great, as some of you have said. I remember buying it new off the reel for £2 a metre. Those were the days, eh?

Assumed the cable was inexpensive. It does very well for it's age and the VFM is bonkers

I have a friend with an Exposure amp. Perhaps I'll persuade her to join?

A 'lady member' Martin? Gosh, whatever next ?? I say go for it - I'm sure there must be some other women with decent hi-fi out there somewhere, but I haven't met any yet!

That's because they don't like embarrassing themselves like we do

Thanks for the pics. I could look at Exposure kit all day. I wonder how it got it's name? As a young guy I always thought it sounded cool, yet JF never really seemed like a marketing type of guy. One day I'd love to go active with Exposure and 'Briks. Might never happen but we all need a dream

I had a pair like that, with the crossover in the bottom of the speaker. They were lovely but these days they fetch the most of all Isobariks so they might be beyond my budget when the time comes. i still lie in hope of a bargain though

As we enter a bright New Year, I want to raise a glass and say "God Bless you JF". I hope whatever path you have chosen brings you great happiness. I'd also like to thank you for the happiness your labours have brought me over nearly 30 years of listening and the bliss they are delivering as I start another year's "Exposure" to life's pleasures.

I can definitely vouch for JF's era Exposure amplification. They are simply down to earth amps, along with lashings of forthright fun and musicality.
What I also highly favour about these amps, is their hefty sound and good bass performance. There is no ''thinness'' in the sound. Just a nice rich, and perhaps slightly thick bass. But I like that anyway! So basically a good match for speakers that has very tight bass.
My Dad has acquired a new Exposure 3010S2D Integrated last week. Hope it goes down well!!
