Thanks again to MartinT I can now clip the DC mains input to the router from a QA Premium grounding box. Previous was too small to do that Barely able to clip the original to the RJ45 lead from router out to EtherRegen. Thought it made a small difference when I first attached it a few months back Play track Change croc clip to the monster (above) and clip on the RJ45 not expecting changes Well, maybe there was a subtle improvement, hmm. Light blue small clip replaced by large *black* clip Now for the real reason Move clip to the DC mains into the router Certainly seems to be a touch more detail, separation, maybe bass too Worth trying these on my SFP connections in the near future

Visit today from our very own MartinT, always a pleasure and even more so today Base level established with Keb Mo Low Mavis Staples Eyes on the prize played for the test track Fiddling around really, can't make a huge difference can it .... Martin suggested moving croc clip from QA Premium grounding box from the metal grounding bolt on the EtherRegen to the SFP First change the croc clip from the original smaller one to another of the big ones, above Yes, it does make a difference, wasn't my imagination before Move the croc clip to the SFP. Even more. Encouraged by above - Another croc clip swap. Old, small one replaced by Jabdog Bonkers. Yup another lift up to more music Martin suggested weight on the EtherRegen, which I had avoided due to it running so hot previously Nowhere near so hot now the cable has been changed so worth a punt Two granite coasters on top which should dissipate the warmth Oh yes, very nice step up Later on I'm back onto my Bubble playlist All those fiddles at close to no cost sound wonderful Think that was it. Did I forget owt Martin ?

No, that was it, Mike. Not a bad afternoon's fiddling (careful how you hear that).

Sounds like great progress Mike. The Mad Scientist stuff is great. I’ve only about 20% of my bottle left, so it might be time to order more.

I may have 50% or more of my system to Mad Scientist on. Will concentrate on the bits I can do with the music playing - continuously Still coming to terms with how wonderful the music sounds on *my* system

Seriously impressive upgrade from yesterday's fiddling listening to early Steve Miller albums I know very well, now onto Jan Hammer, Melodies
Sound even more real than it was before and it was real before
Wonderfully surprising

I should point out that the EtherRegen was sitting on Black Ravioli - but - light so unlikely to benefit from the damping on its own The granite coasters on top now add that weight

Delighting in listening through my Bubble playlist
'Something' seems to have changed since the last play through. More clarity, detail, 'nicer' I'm guessing it is all down to those tweaks above
Loving the early Beatles albums, my first ever record With the Beatles and A Hard day's night so far.

Off at a tangent. Not like me at all really I confess to tablet lust after seeing MartinT 's Samsung tablet at the speedysteve Tasbo Amazed at how good the screen is. The larger than my Lenovo screen was also good, oh yes and the speed Looking around I found them on Ebay for less than half price, good seller. Arrived this week and I set about setting it up Screen is wonderful, quality and size. Speed is way faster than the Lenovo Oddly enough, for me, I had bizarre issues getting it going All I want to start with is Bubble running My layman's guess is it was setting itself up in the back ground as various things changed and others became available. I think I may use it for many other things like Martin so there will be a touch more music as a result

I think I may use it for many other things like Martin so there will be a touch more music as a result That's the key to the Samsung's ease of use. It has a crisp 12" display and has the power to run eveything I do with my laptop in the kitchen, but on my lap* in the music room. I browse through TAS and other forums, place orders on eBay and Amazon, and have the whole Office 365 suite of apps for managing my documents. * I use it on this lap table, a table with a cushion underneath to place comfortably on your lap.

And a keyboard. What's that one ? ? that's just a stock photo with a laptop, Mike. Although I do have a keyboard for the Samsung, I don't use it unless I'm on a long train journey.

Silver lining
New Samsung tablet working fine, mostly. Odd things going on
This morning was classic
Stopping at the end of some tracks Each time I opened the tablet, clicked on next and off we go
Then stop and nothing, apart from "Qobuz cannot probe quality" or similar in Bubble
Onto laptop No t'internet That would explain that then
CD of the first Caravan album, wonderful Next album Rick Springfield - Karma Sounds good. So good that the boss says so. Better than ever, diction clearer, background brought forward without drowning the foreground Long time since last played so a lot has changed, but
Tweaks have been on the streaming chain
Except Black Ravioli big pad+ now under the TAD D-1000
Very nice step up
