Album playlist sounding wonderful without any system changes
3rd time I think for the wonderful Joan The detail and separation has taken a step up. The twiddling around also easily heard now
Yes. Female vocal

I never thought I see Mike enjoying female vocals.

Good point John
I have come to realise that I don't dislike all and any female vocals, there are a lot I can't bear. The voice is one one of my least favourite instruments, male or female There are a few voices I really like

Just read through this and the main take I get from this is how different we all are and how different we can be in what we want to listen to and enjoy . For me the voice is the most personal of instruments and is something when I like it is everything .I try to never say that anyone can not sing but try to say instead i do not like their voice . I am not hung up on voices being accepted nice or tuneful as I just find I like the sound . As vocals go I like Bill Withers , Stevie Wonder , Joe Cocker , Colin Vearncombe , Scott Walker but i also like Tom Waits , Captain Beefheart , Southside Johnny , Taj Mahal . Voices I can not get on with are Bob Dylan , Bruce Springsteen , Morrisey and many more .
Female voices are often more complex but as you get older you lose the nuances in the higher registers here I have many faourites like KD Lang , Cassandra Wilson , Aretha , Dionne , Dusty , Natasha Atlas , Bebel Gilberto and so many others . Those I can not listen to tend to be the ones who think it is clever to show off their range and forget the emotion of what they are singing Celine Dion , Maria Carey are just two examples but I am sure you can all think of many more .
My pursuit of getting vocals to sound as natural and real as they can has been my music pursuit and my way of judging equipment probably very different to they way Mike does it . But that is all good as we construct systems to please our ears and our music and it so much better when we do it this way rather than follow the flavour of the month .

I couldn't agree more. To add to your list of likes, Sarah McLachlan, Tasmin Archer, Goldfrapp, Joan Armatrading, Norah Jones, Sade, Julia Fordham, Tanita Tikaram, Rumer, Sharon van Etten all put the emotion in as appropriate to the song. Lana Del Rey has a completely different aesthetic and her songwriting and delivery are other worldly good. I also agree that Dion and Carey leave me cold. Add to that Adele and the awful Lily Allen. There is a special place reserved for Joanna Newsom, who makes me shudder just thinking about her singing.

Martin I was trying to be brief there are loads more including some you mention . But it is all very personal with no right or wrong just what you like . One I did leave out was Julie London her version of fly me to the Moon is both wonderfully sung and arranged but the recording is stellar . All this year's ago they knew how to get a recording of orchestra and solo voice with real life and joy one of my favourite tracks .

Persuaded by MartinT and others going on about the SR Purple fuse and a nice price on Ebay I took a punt Prepared to be disappointed as Tony doesn't rate the Purple I first listened with the SR Orange in place powering the AM mains conditioner which gives power to everything else A / B test on one track as I'm being super safe and also turning the breaker for whole circuit off (and inadvertently turning the router off for the TV streaming in the next room.....) Purple in place Smoother, more separation, touch more space air and bass Towards the end of the album playlist with albums only on their second run through it reinforces what a clever little thing it is

The SR Purple is great but balance it with SR Orange (which sadly you can no longer get) so that you achieve the detail/smoothness balance you like.
I ended up with Purples in my digital kit and Oranges in my regenerators and power supplies.

As almost everything feeds from my AM conditioner via Schuko sockets I need very few fuses Even been thinking of a Schuko extension lead from the AM for the other bits and pieces, low draw

Purple or Orange - the proper test
The SR Purple has been sitting in the plug feeding power to my AM Conditioner for over a week now. Sounding good
How does the Orange compare ?
Test 1 Listen with Purple in place
Test 2 Turn off contact breaker for this circuit. Pull out mains plug with the Purple in. Back in. Repeat 3 times Breaker back in Subtly better sound. A touch more detail, space, bass Subtle but free
Test 3 Contact breaker off Purple out, Orange in Sound slightly muted, less detail, bass. Not so nice to listen to
Test 4 Contact breaker off Orange out, Purple back in Oh yes. There is the difference. Blatantly obvious when going from Orange to Purple Louder, more dynamic, more detail, space, bass, air Quite a bit more than anticipated

Matches my findings, Mike.
I may even swap the Oranges for Purples in my two regenerators, but I need to think about it as I don't want to upset my system balance.

I hesitated before trying one in case it was a step back Sale or return available ? Don't need sale or return, they're not that expensive. I would if I was going for a Master fuse. I have a few tweaky things in mind, this adds to the list. Always need a list.

What optical lead ? Testing time Cisco lead in place All sounds wonderful Rendu and adaptor off Swap lead to supplied Sonore Seems constrained, not right, limited. Not awful Rendu and adaptor off Swap lead to Finisar Monstrous improvement. That was a surprise So much louder. More detail, space Black cable, must be good Swap lead to Cisco Step up, maybe two steps up More space, more air, detail, separation Keeper even though bright orange cable !

Swap lead to Cisco Step up, maybe two steps up More space, more air, detail, separation My conclusions, too. The Cisco is so good that I stopped my hunt for a better optical cable some time ago. EDIT: the bright orange is a talking point. I tell people all my music is coming through this thin orange fibre and their eyes pop.

Grounding for Rendu. Any good ?
From Quartz Audio Premium croc clip to SFP
Louder, bigger, more musical, more detail in top end, fuller bass
What about the Triple Aces ?
Swapped Triple Aces grounding box from plugged into mains earth with Premium on the Rendu Triple Aces grounding Rendu with croc clip
Louder, background detail brought forward, more natural sound, fuller, richer
How does that compare to a CD in the TAD D-1000 ?
A nose in front, but I need to check the perceived loudness Louder or more dynamic range.....

I use a Quartz Acoustic Premium with croc clip to the Rendu's SFP cage. Works very well. I also use another QA box at the other end, clipped to the SFP cage of the EtherREGEN.
