The great sounds keep on coming !
Sound quality is definitely a step up Trying to work out what happened
Playing favourite albums regularly must reveal the stealth improvements the system does do itself

A self-improving system with AI!
I think we might even get Spotify hifi before that comes along ...

Courtesy of something we had a power cut from 9.30am to just gone 6pm yesterday Became a bit cold
Took the chance to unplug and plug everything to do with the system so there is a step up in clarity today

Despite the improvement, power cuts are a pain. My clocks especially don't like them.

I remember a hifi dealer demonstrating that trick in my mum's system of all places! It worked as well.

Following on from my comment to TobiasSystem sounding great on new albums to the playlist Back at the front and the very well known Bajafondo Sounds better than before More bass, detail, more music The only thing different is a change of weights on the RTZ, about the same, maybe slightly less Tango !

Hey MikeMusic I had a blast reading thru parts of your thread now. Statements like "All the circuit breakers are now back on so it would seem turning your circuit breakers off and on can improve the sound" are hilarious..... or are they.....(X-Files theme song playing)? For someone new, that just found out that switches, digital cables and door stoppers makes a difference..., it is sometimes hard to know for sure what is a joke or not

Some of the improvements I have had defy sense

Amazing the latest improvements from apparently doing nothing Greater separation of the instruments and width in the sound
Would love to know what I did right

Researching into the sound improvement : Forgot - I *did* make a change Read in 'another place' that putting a Stillpoints record weight on top of kit improves sound quality I have one Put it on the D-1000 and forgot about it Taking it off and placing back on does make a difference, touch more detail, bass, more musical More testing as this surely cannot work

Struggling to believe it can make any difference as it is on top of a load of granite placemats
Generically these could mean that not just weight but absorption of vibration *on top* of the kit improves the sound
You will remember the tests we did here with footers for the first time Couldn't believe that at the time either

Hi Mike, very interesting findings with different weights on equipment. I bought a few of these to place on and under equipment. They are a heavy solid piece of rubber. I have one on my Fidelity Audio noise filter. One on my lps and 2 beneath my power regenerator as that stands like a tower PC. That could be very good
I wonder if rubber has a 'sound'
What do you think so far ? Have you compared to granite ?

I’ve not compared to Granite. I did it more as an exercise for reducing self made noise by the Filter and then the fan in the Power regenerator(although this is adjustable and quiet). The thinking behind it that weight combined with absorption should damp the chassis. It certainly works for that purpose.

I knew I was going streaming so decided to bite a rather large bullet and bought a Sonore Signature Plan was to enlist the services of my IT carer MartinT as I lack competence and will power to work with tech Ethernet/Optical converter bought on Ebay and would be due in time for turn on day Except the helpful Martin from Audiostore delivered it personally with a supplied converter. Set up and ready to go with Logitech software to drive it. He's a big fan. We struggled a bit as I wasn't ready for an install and had little ready. Anyway he got it working, with a little help from me. Sound ? Not bad especially as sub optimal in many ways, more later. Oddities and struggles and I gave up as MartinT was due in on Saturday A few PMs back and forth but he doesn't know Logitech that well and isn't a huge fan of LMS CDs were played in the meantime and mighty fine they sounded

D Day and I had everything out and ready that could possibly be needed plus the kitchen sink MartinT brought everything that he thought might be needed and also another kitchen sink. A baseline to be established, with Haelos - Kyoto. New to me, but I'm an instant fan Like it. Could become a favourite. Sound ? Good. Maybe slightly muffled, lacking detail not quite right. I expected improvements from here. Now to work We did a lot, far more than would be recommended but - do as I say not as I do Think I have this in the right order. Here we go The Sig was plugged in with a cheap mains cable to a 3 way adaptor in a switched socket Doesn't get much worse than that for sound quality. 1. Replace mains cable with a Coherent 6D, Schuko plug into my AM conditioner. Oh. That was more than I expected. Massive lift in quality, space, width, definition, tighter bass, improved vocals. More or less everything Mental pause for thought How can there be such big improvements ? 2. Replace supplied optical cable with Finisar AOC My expectation: Subtle Reality: Big step up, building on what the mains cable did, not as huge but immediately noticeable after a few bars. 3. Coherent modified Weiliang PSU for the converter, plugged in with Coherent 6D mains cable to AM conditioner swapping out SMPS plugged into switched socket. Subtle expectation again. After all this is only the mains supply for a converter... Much more than that. Building on the same as previous. More and more detail, space, air, the room itself Bonkers 4. Swap out Logitech software to Martin's favourite BubbleUpnp. Easier to use. I even forked out nearly a fiver to buy it ! Same sound quality obviously I thought Small step up, quite noticeable. 5. No name supplied converter swapped out for the no name one I ordered on Ebay. Brand spanking new so obviously a drop in sound quality We thought Another small step up Must buy lottery ticket 6. Supplied no name, "medium quality" USB cable swapped to Mad Scientist *black* cable I like that. Very nice indeed. So much width now, background detail, really solid bass, more solid mid range 7. Martin snuck a Black Ravioli under the converter and a granite coaster. Didn't test that. Will report back later A good day. Happy bunny here Many thanks to MartinT for his help with setup
