The Blue node 3 is very hard to beat and it sounds surprisinly good. That sounds like a possible solution for Mike. Does it do YouTube, by any chance?

Yes it is simple to use and has a good GUI I think you could cast YouTube as uses airplay

Maybe scope out a streamer to which you can Chromecast / Airplay the audio. That's what I do on the UK system and it works extremely well. Not sure how to do that Pete Can you start me off please or point me ?

For a quality simple and easy to use streaming introduction with the GUI thats great to use and it just works spot on then The Blue node 3 is very hard to beat and it sounds surprisinly good. If tou like later then these is a DC conversion for it and power supply. I had a customers running in in my own system. If I were just streaming to explore new music and not a tech heavy person then it would be in the top 3 no question. Thanks Tony Only exploring new music at the moment. YouTube and laptop is fine for that Playing seriously then I need more as I know Laptop is adequate rather than good

Airplay is only good for Apple devices.
Since the Blue Node 3 is a streamer, there are probably other ways of controlling it.

The Bluesound Node 3 certainly supports Apple Airplay. That would allow you to send the audio from Youtube playing on an Apple device to it. This is very simple. You open the System Preferences, go to Sound and click on The Node 3 as the output. The sound will now be streamed to your audio system via the Node 3 while you watch the video (if that is what you are looking at) on Youtube on the laptop, iPad, etc. However, you are using a Windows laptop and so would need another route (or you could pinch your wife's iPad!). I assume you could exploit the aptX Bluetooth capability of it somehow (by pairing with the streamer and using that to receive the audio stream), but I have no experience with that. Here is a screenshot showing a YouTube video in a browser with the Apple sound settings (output) open. As you can see, at present the internal speakers are selected, but if I click on the Uniti Atom the sound will come out via that instead of the laptop without the need of any cabling etc. And it will be perfectly in-sync with the video.

If too technical, stick with Bluetooth for videos. With YouTube, you are not going to notice improvements via streaming due to the limits of the platform. Use the node for streaming.

For simplicity something like this would give you YouTube and you be able to set up streaming with ease no idea how it sounds but audiocom are good to deal with. audiocomav.com/zappiti-reference.htmlPersonally, I stick with the node, but this would be even easier to use
