More madness
If the system sounds better with weights on the kit how about weights on the speakers...

Luxuriating in the wonderful sound of favourite albums from my album playlist
Weights on speakers has to be the reason
Will probably have to prove the improved sound is worth the er, interesting look of cloth covered, floppy doorstops on the curved tops The boss has been tasked with finding a black cloth like covering and more suitable looking weights

I guess my bottom compartments containing 30kg of best yacht keel lead shot does pretty much the same thing, and helps with those deep, deep bass vibes that so enhance certain kinds of music.
The compartments are only half full!

Raises another question Weight in the base or on top
I'm still struggling to believe what I'm hearing from around 2kg on top of 75kg

Is it just the extra mass or, if the weight you are using are ferrous, an interaction with the magnetic fields of the drivers?

I would say not magnetic interaction unless you're very close to the drivers.
Also, lead is not magnetic.

Wrist bands attract the magnet. Wonder what the metal is
Doorstops don't

System sounding very good on the album playlist of favourites
Haven't done anything ... oh yes I have Multiple circuit breakers turned off to try to find what is using electricity
Couple of days and I can find if that is relevant.

It probably will be beneficial to have everything else turned off in the house that could be polluting the mains. Sounds like an interesting experiment. Just don’t turn the fridge/freezer off!

Easier in the Summer. Found the kitchen system was off so turned the breaker back on No idea if the mains has this effect. Should be able to find out in the next day or two

System and kitchen system sounding fab
Assumption is the circuit breakers that are off and / or the ones that have been switched off and on again
Will try this again in a week or three

Perhaps just flipping the breakers has cleaned the contacts a little.

It was nice to catch up with Mike yesterday and have a listen to his system. I last heard it pre-pandemic and a lot has changed since.
Mike has paid a lot of attention to his mains power (he has three of those superb Kemp SNS plug-in filters), to footers and supports (even placing Black Ravioli Big Pads between his speakers and Townshend Podiums), and to grounding, with several new grounding boxes including grounding his mains earth right where it comes into the house. All of these things are in my paradigm and we have mirrored each other in tweaks and ideas over the years.
This was also my first opportunity to hear the Bluesound streamer, although currently it's on bluetooth duty only while Mike contemplates which streaming service to choose.
On CD, Mike's system gives a lovely wide soundstage (he has slightly widened and repositioned his TAD speakers) with a detailed but easy-going sense of flow and communication. Bass is decidedly better in both power and extension. This is a comfortable system to listen to over extended periods of time.
When we turned to bluetooth, I felt the same sense of surprise as with my own experiments. How can streaming via a laptop over w-fi and bluetooth sound this good? Not up to the calibre of CD playback, but using both YouTube Music and Qobuz as sources it sounded wideband, detailed and communicative.
An enjoyable evening and the coffee was good!

Good to see you too Martin. An enjoyable evening.
Finally nailed one of my 'must get around to....'
YouTube music compared to YouTube was an immediately noticeable improvement
System continues to surprise with more detail coming from my album playlist All the circuit breakers are now back on so it would seem turning your circuit breakers off and on can improve the sound Whatever next ...

Sounds like a good day was had.
I had a look at the Kemp SNS and it looks like the UK plug version isn’t available anymore. Hopefully they are just out of stock.
Good to hear YouTube music is an improvement over YouTube.

Sadly I understood that they do not intend to make the UK version any more.
