I've found a use for the weights no one ever used !

Courtesy of the damned great weights on top of the kit I've had a few surprises going through my album playlist
The biggest so far may well be
Kissing the Pink - Naked
So much more detail being brought out
I'm getting used to the look of the great lumps. Winding some black paper around will help them to be less obvious
Very little else being done currently. Sitting here listening to the music and not wanting to move

Hearing more music from adding weights on the kit as I work my way through the album playlist
Found I could squeeze another 2kg weight on top of the D-1000, total of 6kg now. Black so obviously sounds great ! Think I noticed an improvement from that right away. Will test different weights when I can stop playing albums one after the other
Try weights on top of your system and be amazed

New arrivals yesterday One at a time. SR Orange fuse first. Circuit breaker off. Plug in and out of wall socket a few times to clean up connections and take that variable out SR Blue in situ A / B comparison with L'Arpeggiata Listen twice to be sure Orange in Ooh Yes. Nice little step up Today I'm on the album playlist after a new to me double CD Chris Rea - Blue Cafe. Seems to have more going on. Small to medium step up. Nice Godley and Creme - Freeze frame - lots more going on, clearer, sharper, more dynamic, even more enjoyable to listen to. John Hiatt - Bring the family. Lots more going on again More music !!Useful being retired and on my own this morning Very impressive Synergistic Research Useful only having the on 13 amp fuse with the system taking power from the AM conditioner via US, non fused plugs More to follow

The SR Blue is not my favourite fuse and I got rid of the two I had. It has a calming leaning towards dulling effect on components I've tried it with.
My preferred ones in ranking order are SR Red, SR Orange, SR Purple with the latter being outstanding.

I remember trying the Blue against the Red and the Blue won
Will dig out the Red to pit against the Orange

Back to yesterday's deliveries
This from Jordan at Quartz Electronic
Existing : Silent Point grounding box with less than perfect, temporary connection to the mains earth. Don't do this at home folks ! Still sounds great Swap to Jordan's super duper cable and plug Door bell rings. Pause ..... get up from lying on the floor, answer the door, back again, back on the floor change cables ! Hardly believable, massive increase in detail
This is not subtle
Will revisit tomorrow when I can change over more smoothly

Sub optimal connection to a mains earth socket. AliExpress couldn't deliver what I wanted to my address - puzzling Jordan suggested a step up for around a tenner and I was talking to him anyway

As with yourself, Mike, my two QA ground boxes showed up this morning. I found myself in a position to get them connected well ahead of a planned listening session later in the afternoon.
Your comment that "This is not subtle" cannot be improved upon. I was at a loss for the usual descriptors from the rather hackneyed lexicon of audiophile jargon to describe what I was hearing but, damn, it was certainly a significant improvement.
After coursing through the usual suspects of songs I know by heart, I concluded that these precious boxes simply made everything sound much more "correct". Kinda like a lens of some sort.
My sincerest thanks to the notorious British scholar and gentleman who brought these to my attention. Well played...

Gold plated from Jordan, talking about mains cables. I took a bit of a punt for a grounding box cable. Seems to work ! "The improvement over it is significant - so much lusher and open sound. I not sure if that upgrade will be as significant if it is used in ground box application"

The odd thing is my first boxes took *weeks* to bed in I wonder what improvements you may have coming .... A few years back me and that bloke MartinT agreed there was only ever the chance of tiny improvement in our systems. How very wrong we were I have to question if I'm losing the plot sometimes - maybe I did anyway

Gold plated? The cable or the connectors (which are gold plated)?
Unless Jordan has changed his source, there are silver plated and pure silver models, but not gold plated.

Impatience overcame me.
Today I unwrapped one brand spanking new QA grounding box Shaken, not stirred as per advice, before putting in place
Played yesterday's test track again Wonderful
QA box connected to mains socket
Bearing in mind my first QA boxes took an age to bed in, warm up or whatever I was expecting either nothing or negligible. I would wait for it to do its thing
Not so Smoother, easier to listen too, more detail, well everywhere
What a happy little punter I am and what if it steps up from there ?

Nice one, Mike. Did I tell you that I ordered an Aucharm box a while ago and it came with a Euro 3-pin plug on the cable. And they kindly sent a 2-pin adapter for UK sockets

Wonder what adaptors do to the pixie dust when it passes through ?
