We have our power back just now. Powered up the music room, which had dropped to 14C. Still can't listen just yet as no Internet still.

Sound just jumped up in presentation. Nearly jumped out of my chair
Had been fiddling with grounding cables not expecting much, minor details maybe
Swapped them back around and fiddled a bit more
No change, still a huge step up
Did the planets align, did SSE give me more amps, volts or something ?
Baffled and delighted
Balances another tree falling from another neighbour and the internet being rubbish. Phone call to Three coming up

Sound improvement still there
Mostly mid range and some back ground detail brought forward
Some deeper bass
Even the boss has noticed - and she's not that bothered !

Kemp SNS Plug no.3 arrived quietly last week.
Plugged in and left to do whatever it might do. Reasonably close to the system, to the right.
The first two are either side of the system socket
Been running through the almost complete works of John Hiatt
Now back to the album playlist and test today
Parfum from Bajondo Tango Club at a nice volume which I know very well due to continued playing
Played track twice to be sure
Seems to have all sorts of minor detail and background brought forward. Nice !

Hmm. Not much different ?
Ah yes it is, very slightly muffled, bit less oomph in the bass
I usually find it difficult to hear what *isn't* there

Works fairly well on the original Bajofondo Tango Club but different time !
The Supervielle timing looks about right
Clip is very arty so out of synch not a big prob

Only the Kemp SNS plug added recently, in a different room on a different circuit ... I suspect that the large benefit you're finding with the Kemps (which are the best plug-in filter I tested) indicates that your mains feed is very noisy/polluted compared with most. |

I have had one sitting in the circuit here in Germany for some time, but I cannot say I detected any change. However, this is in front of the IsoteK units and so maybe any change is very subtle. At some point I will take it out and see what happens.

My Kemp has a beneficial effect but it's not large. I have two regenerators at work cleaning the mains, so it's not surprising.

Deeper into the album playlist and delighted at the step up in sound quality
Bajofondo and Bent have even more depth to the recordings and are sounding wonderful
Big surprise when I put on
UNKLE - Never, never land
Twas always good but the opening track made my jaw drop
Stunned
Back and forth is a spoken track with a lot more going on than I realised before and that bass !
Eye for an Eye
YouTube good (via sub optimal laptop), CD a big step up, treated CD another step up
Will be difficult to do anything else today

Further into the album playlist and massive sound quality improvements in a few albums
The amount of information coming out of
Lemon Jelly '64–'95 is amazing
So much more detail, bass, background becoming clearer.
They put a huge amount into making that album
No changes since the 3rd Kemp SNS was plugged in.

To get it out of the way and move on I decided to test sound with two grounding boxes connected to the earth block. 5 minute job and sorted - I thought As MartinT and John came to the conclusion that two grounding boxes on one location are either worse or no different I assumed I would find the same. First test surprised me as I thought I could hear a difference. Wasn't concentrating that much the first time Not a 5 minute job. A / B tested a few times on different styles of music with CDs I just happened to be playing. It's different with two and improved sound Looking for better words to describe it I enlisted the boss and her golden ear. She's usually very good with words Whereas I came up with Nicer to listen to, more rounded, more complete, touch more background detail coming forward she came up with more rounded, fatter, warmer Result QA grounding box with Silent Point grounding box both connected to different terminals on the earth block will stay Not making much sense either as grounding boxes do not lend themselves to instant A / B testing Weird but I'll take it |

Strangeness with weights - as detailed in my weights thread.
Yet another important component you have to have in your system.
Extra weight/s sitting on top of all my boxes - except the QA Premium and Silent Point grounding boxes as no headroom. I'll think of something.
This was essentially free, apart from time as the weights were lying around unused, like most exercise items people buy
What would you expect to pay for this improvement in sound quality if you were upgrading kit ?
£100 - ridiculous bargain
£500 - yes, still a bargain
£1000 - would need to think about, probably
£2000 - not sure if VFM at that much

I have a weight on every component except the P10 regenerator because of no headroom.
The power amp and P3 could do with another one each. Guess I'll be buying some more Schramms. I think the postie loves me (the last lot were delivered with "what the hell is in here").
