I am the same as Martin I use the one with the most weight to the most critical component
On the DAC, I use the RTZ
Largest box on the digital spur and the long Aucherm on the radial mains that feeds the power amps

Looked up what I paid for two of each of the grounding boxes last year, much the same price
Quartz Acoustic two boxes, three cables
£267
Silent Point - two boxes, one cable
£273
Little to choose on price. Still working out how to compare the sound difference/s
Both of them suggest connecting *two* grounding boxes to one piece of kit for an even better effect
Walking the dogs this afternoon my mind wandered around to the realisation I've had these over 4 months now and they are still improving the sound.
That doesn't sound real

I currently have a spare Aucharm. Connecting two boxes to a single location hasn't yet worked for me, but I'm still thinking about where best I can deploy it.

I'm going to test the grounding boxes after this, almost completed run on the album playlist.
1.
Silent Points will stay where they are
Quartz Acoustic will be disconnected from Tivo and Audio Magic Conditioner
Run through album playlist and listen fairly carefully
2.
Silent Points out, replaced by Quartz Acoustic
Listen
3.
Either put all back or swap Silent Points to replace Quartz - or other depending on results

Tivo permanently on and delivering rubbish back into the mains
An idea in the first couple of weeks when I wondered if any of them were going to work
The least likely to make a difference
We shall see, or more correctly hear then I move onto the next phase

Trans Am - Volume X
seems to be lacking dynamics, sparkle
An immediate effect ? Is this my imagination ?
One more album then back on to the well known favourites

Slightly muffled, lacking some detail, bass and dynamics. Not quite right

This may be quicker than I thought
Not happy with the sound quality - as I hoped, but not expecting results this fast. Still on the first album only a few hours since Quartz Acoustic boxes disconnected
Next move is to replace both Silent Points with the Quartz Acoustic.
Silent Points will be disconnected
Guess is the sound quality will drop a touch - based only on the size of the boxes !
Then one box at a time swap or add

Quartz Acoustic Premium replaces Silent Point box (plugged in mains socket)
Silent Point left out
All boxes moved oh so very carefully so as not to disturb the magic ingredients
Instantly better
Oh.
Wasn't expecting that
More bass, width, touch more detail, nicer sound
Not as good as when all 4 boxes were plugged in but a nice step up
Right
I really thought the bigger Silent Point would have it
Will swap back shortly

Silent Point back in replacing QA seems better than before but not as good as the QA QA back in Yes. The QA has it 2nd QA box taken very carefully to the kitchen SP out QA in QA wins System is producing a sound that is easier on the ear More leading and trailing edge, more bass, width John and MartinT the change was immediate and obvious Assume the same would happen in your system Surprised me that all these boxes took so long to get so good but telling them apart is so easy. Thought I might be at this for weeks trolling through the album playlist |

Great findings, Mike. I seem to have settled on their relative strengths but I may have to invest in one or two more Quartz Acoustic boxes.

I meant to ask: are you using the cables supplied with each box, your own cables or some other mix? Are you swapping boxes and cables together?
