Still remember the loony I met on Cix a few years back who insisted that mains cables improved sound quality Tried and there I was on the mains road

Good time to think while doing Yoga first thing.
Must tidy up a bit. Start by putting those big ferrite chokes away. Done, took seconds, back to Yoga
Ah. Hang on. Did I ever put them on the mains leads for the Tivos ? No. Duh Click on chokes at Tivo end Think that's why I bought the big ones! Only been there a few months ...
Forgot to test them off then on Ah never mind. The chokes have nothing better to do
System sounding excellent
Wonder if putting one either end of the cable would be useful......

Chokes are good for stopping other non-hi-fi kit from spewing mains-borne and airborne crap from their SMPS. Attach them right close to the component (near the cable exit).
Don't use chokes with good hi-fi cables like Coherent ones. They are counter-productive.

I assume the Tivo spews all sorts of muck into the mains Linux Computer with HD

No, mine's a Sercal No Noise plug-in and certainly not as expensive as that thing!

Can't find anything like that Sercal Never seen one come up anywhere
Could they have stopped trading ?

I've just checked and it says 'Sercal Electronics No Noise SE' on it.
Possibly they've stopped trading. Keep an eBay search going, a used one may come up.

Almost identical wording to Fidelity Audio's much more expensive box The search continues for a Sercal The Kemp SNS was the first to come up on Ebay in a couple of years. Never Sercal

It is Roy Harper time !
Have a mix of CD and LP from our now 80 year old hero.
CD of Legend, remake of Sophisticated Beggar Great music. Horribly thin sound. Surprisingly bad
Also have the LP of this so I check how that sounds... Pretty good ! Especially considering the Technics record deck is feeding into the Phono stage which then feeds into a 5 quid AD converter with a horrid PSU, then a Toslink into the TAD Pre Must play more LPs I can't get anywhere else
Need to cover up those eye burning LEDs on the PSUs

Been many upgrades since I played LPs. (Same Technics 1210 and Vida Phono Pre) Fantastic sound improvements especially when hobbled by the 5 quid AD box. What can happen if I spend some money ... ? Searched on the interweb for Tony Williams - The old bum's rush not found. The music sounds great, so much better than I imagined it could be - even though the LP is knackered with those scratchy type noises I had forgotten about

Mike!
I don't think I've ever seen a picture of your system, would love to see it in all its glory.
You could also pun the caption with 'TADa!'

Mike returns to vinyl shock. You should have bought Martin's mega rig when he sold it.

Mike returns to vinyl shock. You should have bought Martin's mega rig when he sold it. Never left, just resting Similar mods to Martin on a Technics with a Fidelity Research arm and Ortofon I have too many albums that are not available to stream or for a sensible price on CD

Similar mods to Martin on a Technics You didn't have the multi-stage Paul Hynes regulators that made mine pretty unique. It also had a Mike New bearing and ETP platter and a SpeedySteve ebony armboard. Also, a stunning Dynavector DV507-II arm.
