Noting Cream and Gentle Giant in my album playlist I pulled out all their albums ... Into date order CD treatments x 4 Playing through the on loan Coherent Pre amp
Cream better than previous but I had played them a few months ago
Gentle Giant not played all the albums for a long while, bad boy First album is very good indeed.
The playlist has become a lot bigger
More music being delivered from albums I know and love

Couple of minor mods I've been meaning to try for ages
Not done because I assumed the difference would be marginal at best
Unless the heat has got to me one or both of them are very good indeed. More bass, detail, width, clarity
Will check again tomorrow to confirm I can hear such a difference.
What'd I do ?
Two granite place mats on top of the Coherent LM1 Pre amp Existing Black ravioli pads placed under the stuck on Black Ravioli pads on the Audio Magic conditioner. That's it
Who'd a thought it ?

Doesn't surprise me, Mike. Equipment damping and vibration control nearly always works.

Sold a Russ Andrews Signature mains cable. Two metres so able to plug into a convenient switched socked to test powering the TAD D-1000
Well known Bajofondo track.
Oh. That sounds pretty good. That's not supposed to happen.
Track continues Ah. Not so good after all, seems limited, compressed, lacking dynamics, constrained. A splendid effort though.
Off and swap Coherent BD mains cable running from Audio Magic conditioner
Oooh. That is a step up, so it should be with that amount of dough in the chain now
Through the track more and more detail revealed, width, height, depth, superb bass, separation. The RA Signature did a good job, especially limited by the switched socket and not going through the conditioner

Listening to the album playlist and hearing differences in the delivery of the music. Sounds stripped back, naked, more revealing and maybe not always in a way I expect or like. Broadly it is better. Maybe this is my new reality
No changes to the system or the room but, in the kitchen diner.... Ferrite choke on the SMSL Q5 that is on during waking hours plus a Tacima 6 Way Mains Conditioner for the TV and other bits TP Link wifi booster is also on in there Separate circuit some distance away.
Mains again ? Could be me, will check

Sounds stripped back, naked, more revealing and maybe not always in a way I expect or like. Depends on what you're listening to, Mike. Sometimes an old classic can sound exactly like that. Other times, there is hidden depth and detail exposed in a nice way. So much depends on the recording.

Jerry Goodman - It's Alive Pilote - The Slowdown Howard Werth - The Evolution Myth Explodes Utterly different to each other The detail from our Howard is surprising

I was playing some classic female albums last night.
Roberta Flack - Killing Me Softly: superbly emotional, incredible detail and depth and with very obvious tape hiss. Carly Simon - No Secrets: nasty, hot to the point of ear-bleeding. You're So Vain should be better than this. Parton/Ronstadt/Harris - Trio: lovely recording, dynamic and differentiates their voices very well.
Recordings just get more different the better the playback equipment.

I'm getting more clarity on deliberate noise pretending to be scratchy vinyl and others.
Not sure if it is annoying or a good thing and part of the overall sound
Occasionally I stop the CD, like with UNKLE when I heard the noise from a phone left off hook and the alarm. Odd thing to have in the background

Improvements appear almost out of nowhere More clarity and separation on my album playlist, so music I know very well
Ferrite chokes put on the two SMSL Q5s I have in different rooms. One is almost permanently on so no junk being fed into the mains from that, the other usually off
Remembered that the Q5 PSU has a very faint light on, even if the amp is off so maybe the other is being stopped feeding rubbish back as well.
One on the new Amazon Firestick
Net cost ? Pennies

Been thinking and putting off, until last night.
More isolation On a whim I decided to try, as per *Tony's suggestion Black Ravioli pads under the E1 speakers - which are already isolated on wobbly Townshend stands. One needs to be a bit brave as they need tilting a way over to insert the first one. First speaker sliding away from me on the Townshend stand gave me a queasy moment, even more care.
The speaker moving around on the Townshend platform has probably changed the imaging slightly. Will be looking at readjusting.
Sound quality ?
Seems to have made more background detail audible. Detail overall better. Some bass deeper.
Fairly sure this is a winner. Will leave in place for a while then take them out and listen again. BRs are supposed to improve after time and compression
*Yeah right I thought at the time. I'm not paying a load of money for a load of BRs for each speaker but the thought remained Recently checking weights E1s are 75kg each Black Ravioli pads take 25kg each That will do nicely
Also helps level up the left speaker which had a small front downwards angle.
Now I've done it I am fairly happy moving around
More music seems to be emanating from Neil Cowley - The face of Mount Molehill UNKLE - Never, never land Global Communication - 76:14

Do you know, I remember having a similar conversation with Tony a while ago about BRs between speaker and Podium.
I'm not sure that the BRs will hold up under the weight of my 160kg speakers, but it's something I might try at some future point.
A queasy moment with my speakers could be a very serious problem!

When I pronounce on BR effectiveness or not you need to look at 6 or 7 per speaker !
If a goer I'd have at least one other strong and sensible punter with you

Wonderful surprise
Been playing favourite albums on the kitchen diner system and moving them across
Been loving Genesis - Trick of the tail for many weeks now in the kitchen
Moved over to the big system today
Hearing so much more I can't believe it
What a superb album. What a fantastic system
