Both are well recorded. Sorry, the music is not grabbing me.

My very cheap Toslink 2 way adaptor and 2nd cable arrived. £2.69 for the adaptor including post 61 pence for a 1 metre cable including post Worth a punt at that money. Plugged both in and tested. TV and Vinyl both using Toslink into the adaptor then into the TAD All sounds fine. Wow. Will test without the adaptor Only one will work at once. Try both together for perfect silence

Been meaning to straighten up my TAD speakers on Townshend stands for a long time.
That means moving both the speakers and stands.
Measured exactly where the speakers are in relation to fixed points behind. Moved the speakers to look 'right' on the stands. Angled slightly out and forward on the stands from previous.
Stands now to be moved - except - the boss made me a cup of coffee and I sat down, Bajofondo playing, listened.
This sounds wonderful.
Is it better ? Maybe. More listening required.....
Confidence growing in speaker and speaker stand shuffling

When you get it right, Mike, the Podiums help the speakers disappear completely.
I marked mine out carefully (with masking tape) and have them toed in to point directly to me. The Podiums themselves are toed in so that the speakers remain centrally positioned on them. With carpet, I guess the only thing you can do is remove the speakers and position them first, sitting in your listening position to check before mounting the speakers back on.

Didn't help listening to an album I love anyway !
Sound is a little left of where I had it before, for me. The boss, with one working ear even noticed and commented that her stereo image is now central for where she sits. Previously on the right.
I have opened a can of worms of course. Speaker is about 1cm forward of where it was on the stand and this has compressed the bounce out of one of the feet. Now adjusted back to bounce Slight forward lean on the stand so all feet to be adjusted. That's just the left speaker !
Fairly sure I can carefully drag the stand over the carpet with the speaker still on it. Moved it out and back as a test and all seemed fine.
Don't usually like twiddling but this is good fun

Hopeless
Decided to check the sound from a kosher CD to a burned CDR of the same. Love the album. Interested to see if I could squeeze a bit more out.
Jan Hammer - Oh Yeah!
Can't be certain but I wonder if the CDR had it by a short nose.
Checking tracks then had to listen to the whole album, forget about testing, the music is wonderful and needs to be heard !

Continuing against my usual outlook of listening not fiddling I got around to adjusting (only) the left hand TAD speaker yesterday. Moved the stand so the speaker is back, almost to where it was before I straightened the speaker on the Townshend stand. Effectively toeing the speaker in with the sides of the TAD parallel to where I sit. Stereo image moved to the centre - yes. However other things going on with instruments moving around. Once more through the playlist and maybe another tweak or perhaps ....... the right hand speaker ! Going with the ChrisB methodology of leaving it in place for a while before further tweaking I may become a toeing tweaker

Luckily (and I mean that), I got the positioning of my speakers just right when I put them on the Podiums, and better than before.
Positioning is perfect with their inside faces pointing directly to me.

I will leave the left hand side for now Then either tweak it further or go for the right Exciting !

Picking out a favourite band and playing in chronological order Brand X Missing Period Unorthodox Behaviour Both had something to offer but now both are delivering quite a lot more courtesy of the current system and a blast from the Nespa. Moroccan Roll I know this very well and have played it 100s of times. Thought I had heard all there was before. Nope, even more is somehow being dug out of the CD than I have heard previously. TAD volume on 162. Peaking at a Martin T level of 90db. Yes the boss is away The clarity, separation, bass depth is wonderful

I haven't played that for a while, Mike. I'll give it a blast tonight, although at less than 90dB as I don't often play it that loud!

Working through my playlist and amazed at how much more music is being revealed by blasting the CDs on the Nespa with an extra 30 seconds on the play side and a total of 60 seconds on the printed side.
There are things going on that were just not there before.
Man - Call down the moon has so much more going on now
The rest of the system sounding more than capable at giving more

Playing with extra special Coherent BDU cables for the RTZ and working through the current playlist with music I know very well. Need to understand and put into sensible English what has happened to the sound. Consider this a draft First pair plugged into the CD/Pre/DAC is subtle but not, filling in gaps that were not evident previously. Odd. Second pair into the Power Amp seems to have made big changes, mostly to the bass, probably detail too. Only swapped out the 6Ds once to the BDU so far. Very keen to listen to the music Strengthens my view (and a growing one by those that have heard one) that a grounding box, certainly a Coherent RTZ is an essential part of a serious hifi system. If that wasn't enough ... Comparisons to come on three, yes 3 CD improvers Tony brought around on his last visit. Decided to have a try as the sound improvement seemed worthwhile at least for further investigation. Lots to take in and put into understandable language, for a change

Rick Springfield - Karma
Will revisit tomorrow and report back
