Back on the playlist. I have to smile. Sound quality has taken another step up Only change was moving the TAD CD onto the other Creaktiv rack. Identical spec I believe
Tony, the doctor says the TAD CD/Pre/DAC is improving as it runs in.
Whatever it is I am a happy bunny

Only change was moving the TAD CD onto the other Creaktiv rack. Similar to my observation only a few days ago, Mike. Component placement and isolation are paramount.

Can't see that would change anything much 2 feet to the left. Identical rack
Uh, I lie. I rearranged the cables to the RTZ to be more logical. Possibility there

I even try to buffer cables that might resonate against a surface by judicious placement of sorbothane feet to rest them on.

Future Sound of London - Environments II Not available anywhere except here it seems Stunning dynamic range. Bottomless bass. All seems better to me than a few days ago TAD at 156, Peaking around 84db and wonderful The boss would say "you call that music ?!"

Nearly forgot Tony dropped off some cables to test into the RTZ More later Would also be easier if I didn't have dogs jump on me in the chair. Ah, life is hard

Normal cables connected so system is identical to a few days ago........
Separation is another big step up on John Hiatt - The Tiki bar is open
Whatever you think *I* can't believe it.

RTZ 3 takes the place of the RTZ 2 Two extra cables from TAD CD to RTZ. That's, er 9 now
Sound varies from great to staggering. All the albums today are like different and better versions Hybrid - Morning SciFi is ridiculously good. Peaking around 82db TAD volume setting 147

Mike, May I suggest the Ultimae record label, they’ve got tonnes of excellent ambient and electronica (some with beautiful bass) and a backlog of amazing music: ultimae.bandcamp.com

Love this album anyway Wasn't prepared for it to sound so good Then I realised what has changed since I last played it. Almost everything. Only same TAD speakers, Creativ Racks and Audi Magic conditioner.
Revelling in wonderful music, now so revealed TAD at 150 Peaking at 79db
All those steps up were great one at a time. Altogether is enormous

Good to see John today, bringing his ears He asked for Mavis to be played and I was happy to have her perform We'll Never turn back Track 2 has been a comparison track for months if not years Great to listen to the album. Hearing more than ever before, however there are albums that have even more to offer as the system digs ever deeper for detail Two just landed on the playlist Cinematic Orchestra - Every day www.allmusic.com/album/every-day-mw0000219435seems to be the only place to sample surpsingly and Future Sound of London - Environments 4 (the best Environment IMO) Give them a go

Mavis - Eyes on the Prize is now one of my go-to tests whenever I make changes. So is Van Morrison - Satisfied.

Give the 2 mentioned above a blast Some of the bass on Cinematic Orchestra sounds as if there is tunnelling going on underneath

Had a really good session System is very balanced lots of detail and bass is a lot more articulate but also goes really deep. A lot of system changes but definite for the better. Thanks Mike

Back on the playlist and initial thinking says minimal change in sound quality. No. Better. Mostly in mid and lower range oomph.
Glorious.
One advantage of *not* running the TAD CD/Pre/DAC 24 hours means the improvements keep coming. Must apply to the cables as well......
How much longer can this keep getting better ?

Have to be some losers On the Playlist with albums played once only. Nice enough but no cigar Tangerine Dream - Remixes Banco de Gaia - all except one so far Others I may bring to mind Current playlist:The system allows so much to come through seems a shame to waste talent on the 'ok'

The system stripping back the recordings so far has puzzled me on some albums
Cassandra Wilson - Traveling Miles Expected this to come and go, female vocal not my favourite anyway. Found it not at all bad. Joins the playlist and has at least another play. Excellent recording and some odd instrumental, jazz work
Iggy Pop - Skull ring I like Mr.Pop. This is not his best for sure. Difficult to get through. An assault on the ears on some tracks. Guess this was recorded in different places. Filed with a question mark over even keeping it.
Robert Palmer sounding good with Addictions, the re done compilation pair. Subtly or quite different versions of many well known tracks.
More music from the recordings is a 2 edged sword

I'm finding more good than bad from going over old material. Coldplay excepted, almost all of which sounds terrible.
For instance, Sheryl Crow's first album Tuesday Night Music Club sounds amazingly alive, a really tight band and excellent analogue recording.
I used to think Dire Straits' first album a bit meh on sound quality. Not so at all. Brilliant open recording with everything in the studio revealed.
Who would have thought that Paul Simon's One Trick Pony contained some real gems with fantastic recorded quality?
Even Hawkwind - Hawkind! - benefits from better SQ.
