I saw them at the Marquee many years ago It would probably be quicker if you just listed the bands you didn't see at the Marquee years ago, John.

Herbie Flowers, RIP, the king of British bass players. Lou Reed's "Walk On The Wild Side". That was Herbie. David Bowie (Space Oddity, Diamond Dogs), Elton John (Tumbleweed Connection, Madman Across the Water) They were Herbie too,. There were many more too, like Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds. Herbie also played the Tuba, and appeared on Camel's "Nude" playing it, as he did as a member of Sky.. He was the guy you heard a thousand times, and never knew it. OBIT

Back in the 80's probably the most popular track amongst soul and funk fans was "Joy and Pain" by Maze - the singer Frankie Beverly has just passed, aged 77. I saw them live in Manchester back in the day, a great vocalist he was too. www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3rdgy2gdjpo
