I knew Charlie was ill, he'd pulled out of the latest tour. There was no indication it was as serious as this though. He was a brilliant drummer, a fact that's often glossed over when we tend to talk about the band as a homogenous unit, and of course, Mick and Keef got most of the publicity outside of that. Married in 1964, he leaves behind his wife Shirley, daughter Seraphina, born in 1968, and granddaughter Charlotte, born in 1996. Charlie was, and always will be, a proper legend, in a world where that word is routinely overused. Not an obituary. |

RIP Lee "Scratch" Perry. Lee “Scratch” Perry, the Jamaican roots & dub legend, has died, the Jamaica Observer and The Guardian report. Perry was at Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea, Jamaica when he died earlier today (August 29). A cause of death has not yet been revealed. He was 85 years old OBIT |
