It's a shame that she is only remembered for that Barcelona song.

Two more pieces of my youth passed away today. Douglas Rain, actor, and the voice of HAL in 2001, A Space Oddysey passed away today. OBITStan Lee, the genius behind Marvel comics (along with great artists like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko) has died, aged 95. Marvel comics were better than DC comics for the same reason that the Marvel cinematic universe is better than the DC universe today, a sense of humour. Marvel heroes weren't/aren't lantern-jawed righters of wrongs, they're just as likely to be criminals of sorts, and their tales are told with a wry smile for the most part. Stan changed the entire course of comic book history and of superhero movies too. OBIT

I've just heard the news that Pete Shelley, lead singer and founder member of Buzzcocks, has passed away aged 63. Apparently, he was living in Estonia.

Buzzcocks and later Pete as solo artist introduced to me by John Peel, like so much I listen to.
Had no idea "Ever fallen in love" was their biggest hit. I'd rate it as fine with other tracks head and shoulders above it
His first two solo albums, Homo Sapiens and XL1 are superb and well worth investigating

Yes. Got it. 6 or 7 out of 10 from me.
XL-1 extended CD is even better than the vanilla with one long track of alternative mixes of track on the album. That CD has been in my kitchen diner system for months now as I keep wanting to hear it

Norman Gimbel, the Oscar- and Grammy-winning lyricist, has died at the age of 91, his family has announced. Gimbel's work included Killing Me Softly With His Song - recorded by Roberta Flack, the Fugees and others - and the theme to TV series Happy Days. He also wrote the English lyrics to the Brazilian bossa nova melody, The Girl From Ipanema. Gimbel formed a long-term collaboration with composer Charles Fox and the two of them won a Grammy Award in 1973 for Killing Me Softly. His songs have appeared in over seventy motion pictures.
