Arnie was a true innovator and I loved his series of epic Infinity speakers before the brand was sold off and trashed. Many of those models still compete with anything made today.

David Cassidy His was not my kind of music, but an icon nevertheless. NewsI didn't know Jack Cassidy the actor was his father, and that Shirley Jones was his real stepmother. His father father couldn't handle the success of his son and came to resent him. Came to a tragic end when he fell asleep drunk on a sofa with a lighted cigarette and was burnt to death. Only identified from his dental record and ring.

My taxi driver has just informed me that Cheggers has died, aged 60. It seems that he had endured a "long-term battle with a progressive lung condition" which "rapidly worsened towards the end of this year". BBC Obit.

Bless him. I always liked the guy. Anyone remember his nudie game show? Not many would've done that.
Since he talked openly about his struggle with alcohol, it sparked us to reinvent an old saying in his honour: "Cheggers can't be boozers" (beggars can't be choosers). We still use it to this day.
RIP Cheggers. You were a hoot and a pleasure to watch.

Charley Hansen (Ayre)
"With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you that Charles Hansen, founder of Ayre Acoustics, has passed away on November 28th, 2017. Those who knew Charley knew that he was a passionate man who always stood up for what he believed to be right. His family knew him as a loving and dedicated father of his two children. With the passing of Charley, the world has lost one of the most creative and innovative minds in the audio industry and we have lost a good friend. While we can never replace Charley, his spirit lives on in the team at Ayre. We are dedicated to continuing his mission of creating and manufacturing the best sounding audio equipment in the world. Most importantly, we will be there for our friends, partners, and customers who have supported us over the years. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at any time.
We wish you all the best over the holidays, and please play an album for Charley sometime."

Richard Lord (REL)
"A category of one. That would be the most accurate description of Richard Edmund Lord, the founder of REL Acoustics, Ltd. . And those who knew Richard know that he loved accuracy which was, ultimately why he took things into his own hands and created REL; because without deep bass, Richard reasoned, too much was missing from music and –later–movies."

I met Richard a few times at Hifi shows, he always seemed a nice guy, a great shame to the Hifi world.

I loved my REL subwoofer. It made great music and really enhanced my listening with the Spicas. I hope to have another one day. Richard Lord wasn't afraid to go against received wisdom and IMO proved his point.
