Thanks Mike, will watch that.
I watched Gravity the other day and it well surpassed my expectations. Superb VFX and really strong performance from Sandra Bullock.

Thanks Mike, will watch that. I watched Gravity the other day and it well surpassed my expectations. Superb VFX and really strong performance from Sandra Bullock. Insert usual " It's even better in 3D" message here... Joking apart, Gravity is one of those films I'd happily describe as " made to be screened in 3D,* especially if you DON'T suffer from motion sickness.

I certainly would have liked to have seen it in the cinema or at least 4k on the TV.

Enjoyed The Gentlemen last night.
What you'd expect from a Guy Ritchie film really, it keeps you entertained.
Hugh Grant showing what he can do given a decent part.

^^Very fun film that i just recently watched. After seeing it I'd realized the Brits have a knack for these kind of fast-paced caper films with extremely unique fleshed out ensemble casts with super stylized editing and wonderful and fun music, none of which I've seen in American cinema.
A Most Violent Year
There's something about this film that I just love. Of course the performances are excellent but it's the feeling of the 80's, a time that I miss, that is so potent here. Somehow the score and the look of the city in this film just brings me back, and it looks quite authentic to me.
I've just looked up the director is J.C Chandor the same director from Margin Call another absolute favorite of mine though the look and feel of that film is very different from AMVY, of course.

Both of those films you mention are on Amazon Prime so I've added them to my watchlist.

It's a good one for sure. I hoover up rockumentaries like they're going out of fashion. I never enjoyed The Travelling Wilburies but I watched something about them today that was great.

That's Christmas night sorted out, The Blu-rays of Ghost Stories and A Quiet Place have arrived. I'm watching A Quiet Place now. It's very well done, isn't it? No spoilers, I haven't finished it yet. Emily Blunt can do no wrong, of course.

Yup, finished A Quiet Place and I'd call it a minor gem. Nicely paced and the young deaf girl was portrayed brilliantly.
