Cockneys Vs Zombies
Not the finest film you will ever see, but perfect late night fodder - it had more than enough gratuitous violence, swearing and cockney rhyming slang to keep me well entertained. Lots of fun that all the family can enjoy ... Alan Ford is irrepressible doing his usual cockney hard man turn. Notable also for the presence of a number of faces you will no doubt recognise including Honor Blackman of Goldfinger fame. Does a great job with her cockney accent whilst chopping down zombies with a machine gun. Was also the last film of the excellent Richard Briers.

Watched the Joker last night, a friend of mine summed it quite nicely
A homage to late 70's and early 80's NYC Scorsese films mixed with the King of Comedy. Not one for the comic book fans but a good film none the less

I enjoyed it!
It's a comedy as much as anything, very tongue in cheek ...

Remarkable films : The goalposts have moved
Watching a recent Star Trek film James Kirk Pre the original series. Star Trek Beyond All the right elements but ultimately nowhere near good enough
*Not* Ridley Scott or that level of director. Justin Lin
Wikipedia: The film grossed $343.5 million at the box office, and received generally positive reviews with praise for its acting, action sequences, musical score, visual effects, and tributes to Yelchin and Nimoy. At the 89th Academy Awards, the film was nominated for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, but lost to Suicide Squad.
It made that much money. Wonder how many punters thought they were done out of their hard earned. Waste of my time watching it - unless I use the experience to avoid such cobblers in the future
And yet there is good viewing out there. Some of the TV series I've seen recently beat it hollow
While I'm at it... Star ratings 4 and 5 star rated films have turned out to be cobblers Some 2 and 3 star rated have turned out to be 3 or 4 stars at least and left and impression whereas the higher rated are forgotten in the dross

Sometimes one needs a piece of unashamed entertainment that has no artistic merit in the traditional sense and allows you to sit and watch it without trying to work out "what it's all about" It's about a bunch of geezers killing zombies, and it's exactly what it sets out to be: Mindless fun. In the same sort of vein, I enjoyed Attack The Block, and Cowboys And Aliens. Sometimes I don't want to strain my brain to understand what's going on. I want it on a plate, and in glorious, widescreen, colour.

That's nothing compared with the steaming pile of ordure that is John Wick 3. Yet it's made $321M. I thought the first John Wick was quite good so was keen to watch the 2nd one and it was beyond rubbish. I haven't seen the 3rd and am not any any rush to as a result of the 2nd.

I will watch JW3 when it's free on Amazon purely because I've seen the first two. The first was great fun, the second less so but still watchable for me.

I liked JW 1 , couldn't think how they would improve on it with 2 and of course they didn't , have no intention of watching 3 .

I watched El Camino yesterday which is a follow on movie to the very successful Breaking Bad TV series.
As a massive fan of Breaking Bad, I was really looking forward to watching this film.
Unfortunately I was really disappointed. The followed the aftermath of the ending of Breaking Bad, and focused on one of the key characters from Breaking Bad.
I thought it was just far, far too slow and not sure they chose the right character.
For me I felt it an entire waist of an hour and a half of my life!

Finished watching the director's cut of Das Boot last night. Simply one of the greatest films ever made.
