Last night I watched Downfall, chronicling the last days of the Reich in Hitler’s bunker. Pretty accurate too I would think as it is based on a number of first hand testaments. Amazing casting - the visual likeness of some of the actors are to their characters is quite scary. Superbly intense performance from Bruno Ganz but also a great ensemble makes it far from a one man show. The only disappointment is the blu-ray picture quality. It was shot on 35mm and whilst I appreciate they wanted the film to look gritty, many interiors look like they were shot on an old 8mm video camera! Blu-ray can deliver so much more than this.

It's a memorable film and Ganz's performance is a career best. Phenomenal.

Stunning film, especially when combined with the music.

I watched John Wick 2 last night. Highly entertaining. The action choreography is unbelievably good as is the uber stylish production design. The finale is 'inspired' by The Man With the Golden Gun and Enter the Dragon. Saw John Wick 3 on Saturday. When things are not going swimmingly with some work colleagues, 'revenge' movies are very therapeutic. Really enjoyed it. Funny movie. Some good laughs. Not always associated with Keanu Reeves.

LOL, that made me laugh, Brett.

John Wick 3. Don't bother. Utter mindless violent dreck.
Save your money.

Watched some episodes of Good Omens last night on Prime, well worth a watch, great performances from Michael Sheen and David Tennant. Based on a Terry Pratchett book.

Watched some episodes of Good Omens last night on Prime, well worth a watch, great performances from Michael Sheen and David Tennant. Based on a Terry Pratchett book. The series is sticking as closely to the book (which is still one of the funniest books it's been my pleasure to read) as it can. The cast are almost uniformly terrific, and my only quibble so far is with Jack Whitehall, whose character seems oddly lacking in presence and likeability. Perhaps I need to re-read the book. Martin, you really should put aside your dislike of Neil Gaiman and try the book. Gaiman's style, which I know you don't like, is perfectly leavened by Pratchett.

Ok, will do Paul. I did like the Pratchett/Baxter collaborative series (The Long Earth), they were the usual Baxter huge scope style of SF writing.
