The Ring, is one of my all time favorite horror films. Plus Naomi Watts reminds me of my wife. One that isn't really a film but a mini series is "The English". I have grown to love depictions of what the old west was really like!

When I was in the Fire Service a few years ago me and one of the other guys were watching Ring and it was getting to a very tense bit, and of course we're crapping ourselves waiting on something happening when the bloody telly went bang and swiched itself off, jeez did we both jump 😂

Natascha McElhone in Solaris reminds me very strongly of my wife.
It makes that film even more unsettling than it already is.

Mirage (Netflix). This one popped up as a recommendation in my feed, I had never heard of it. Spanish SF but really well constructed and with some great acting. Two storms separated by 25 years, with a boy in the earlier timeframe recording himself playing guitar while a woman in the later timeframe discovers the same TV still working. They see each other through the TV and she inadvertently changes her life by affecting what the boy does next. Chilling and compelling viewing.

We both enjoyed "Amsterdam" and "Banshees of Inisherin".

One for Joolz here: Tar
Very good film and gives insight into the world of classic music politics, back stabbing & one upmanship and sexual meanderings Blanchette on form as usual great film maybe 20 mins to long BUT well worth watching.
Also the Fablemans, Spielbery early leanings of what was to come and his disfuctional family, better than anticipated good all round performances of the struggles for a young person growing up in late 50's early 60's America.
Now he needs to finish it off with 1967 to the present day part II.

insight into the world of classic music politics, back stabbing & one upmanship and sexual meanderings Blair Tindall did it first in her book Mozart in the Jungle, which is a great read.

I enjoyed Black Sea on Netflix. Not remarkable by any means but a properly made, taut thriller with Jude Law as a submariner hired to retrieve a haul of Nazi gold from a sunken U-boat. Decent midweek entertainment. I saw that and thought the same of it.

Everything, Everywhere All At OnceBizarre, whacky, massively creative, probably stupidly expensive to make, SF film like no other I've ever seen. Maddest film I've seen in a very long time. Michelle Yeoh is wonderful as the out-of-control mother and a shoutout to Stephanie Hsu as the 'evil' Jobu Tupaki. The cinematography, and especially the editing, are top-notch and make it a feast for the eyes. I can't say much more about it without spoilers so just watch it. On Amazon Prime in the UK.

My Mrs enjoyed that film but it rather did my head in and couldn't watch more than a small amount, it just didn't engage me at all.

I felt the same. I was almost two hours in, and there was just too much going on. I was convinced I’d missed some important lines, and felt I’d better understand it if I watch it when I’m in the right mood, so I turned it off.

2010: Odyssey Two was always overshadowed by 2001: A Space Odyssey but in fact it was a superb film in its own right, and very relevant to today's troubles between Russia and the USA. If you've never seen it, it's a real treat. Especially the scene where the HAL 9000 is woken up.

Will definitely see that.
I started becoming interested in David Lynch recently though I failed to understand his films when I first saw them years ago.
The most unsettling one that I saw was 'Inland Empire' and thats the one I'd like to see though cannot find it anywhere.
