I've started watching Marcella, a gritty serial murder investigation.
Having only ever seen Anna Friel in lightweight fluff, it's good to see her in a far more meaty role.

I've just finished s1 of "Shadow and Bone," and I'm looking forward to starting s2, which the final moments of s1 have set up perfectly.

Loved the first few seasons of Marcella but the last one went way off the charts in the direction of disturbing. Looked like the producers were trying to set up for a next season but fell short in their effort.

I'm loving the way Worf is managing to steal every scene in which he appears in Picard s3.

"Your Honor" - finale of 2nd season ended well. Has to be one of the best series I have seen in years! No stupid super-hero or teenager or woke-type shows that seem to permeate the airwaves lately.....

Started on BBC drama Better.
Makes a change from American or fantasy series.
Not sure about it yet, but we'll watch more.

I tried the show Yellowjackets and got annoyed in 15 minutes and shut it off though I bet there would be parts worth sticking around for. As soon as I saw the behaviour of the typical token hot chick I've seen for 20 years on screen I was done.

I've just watched the first episode of "Holding" on ITVX/Prime. I'd forgotten what a pain in the arse adverts are. The series itself, or e1 at least, is very, very good. It's set in a Cork village, and Cork is n area I know a little, as it's where the sister-in-law lives. They nailed it. The story is based on a novel by Graham Norton (yes, THAT Graham Norton, and don't whine, you haven't seen it) and Conleth Hill, who plays the lead, is brilliant. He's a Garda Sergeant a bit like Brendan Gleeson's "Gerry Boyle" in The Guard, minus the charisma, plus any hint of get up and go he may once have had got up and went a long time ago. You might remember him from Suits, Game of Thrones, Magpie Murders, Why Didn't They Ask Evans?, and the Derry Girls. Talking of Derry Girls, Siobhán McSweeney a.k.a Sister Michael is in the show, as is Father Ted's Mrs Doyle, Pauline McLynn. Oscar winner, Brenda Fricker is in it, and so is Charlene McKenna (Ripper Street & Peaky Blinders) along with a whole galaxy of Irish talent. The music is by Murray Gold, of Dr Who fame,. Yes, I'm giving it a big build up, because I only discovered it by accident, and it was released a year ago, and I think would be a real shame to see such an array of talent, properly used, vanish into obscurity. Oh, and it was adapted for telly (and directed) by Kathy Burke. All that on the strength of one episode. p.s. As I mentioned Derry Girls, if you haven't seen it, you're missng out.

Loved the first few seasons of Marcella I've just finished S1 of Marcella and what an outstanding series it is. Highly complex, tough, grim, creepy and with twists that obscure the outcome. Really superb.

Watched a couple of eps of The Night Agent. It's ok, run of the mill entertainment but story wise we've seen it all before a million times. The two leads are fine but the two assassins are terrible cartoon characters, really cheesy and don't fit at all into the overall style of the film.

I liked the idea of the night phone and the codes, but we've moved away from that towards the usual being hunted down storyline. It's not a patch on Marcella.

Daisy Jones and the Six
This seems good, drama with a musical twist. Loosely based on Fleetwood Mac, their lives and relationships. On Prime.

Daisy Jones and the SixThis seems good, drama with a musical twist. Loosely based on Fleetwood Mac, their lives and relationships. On Prime. I've resisted the temptation, so far. The (i.e. MY) problem is that I find myself spending too much time criticising the musical elements of those shows. Wrong amp, they'd never have used that mic for the drums, this is supposed to be sset in 1971 but he's playing a '73 telecaster, etc. Jeanette used to hate watching anything like it with me, almost as much as she hated seeing live bands with me.
