Based on the author Val McDermid's (Wire In The Blood) "Inspector Karen Pirie" character. Just checked, it's FTA on the ITV Hub. I love Val McDermid's books, so it's definitely one for me too. There are six " Inspector Karen Pirie" books in the series (although I've only read the first four) so hopefully, if it's any good, we'll get more. Wire In The Blood was also excellent, I bought the full " Completely Wired" DVD set (back in 2010 as I've just discovered) and Jeanette and I devoured it, having already watched it " live" on telly. It's got all 6 series plus one feature-length episode. Robson Green and Hermione Norris (and later Simone Lahbib, who replced Norris) were on absolutely top form. Needless to say, I read all of the books too, which are excellent. The best compliment I can pay it is that the TV series lived up to the books for the most part. Courtesy of Wikipedia, somethingI didn't realise: "I TV cancelled the series in 2009, citing high production costs ( which were estimated at up to £750,000 per episode)".

As well as House of the Dragon, the last episode of Gåsmamman etc, we've started Dead to me on Netflix. Light hearted (after all the heavy and violent / dark series), fun twists, romcom series. Marie loves it.

I seem to have abandoned House of the Dragon, without actually doing it intentionally. I just sort of stopped watching it. I actually started to find it quite depressing; the violence was relentless, and there was not a single character I could point to whom I could identify with, or even feel some degree of sympathy towards, or empathy with.

I'm trying Undercover, a Belgian drama on Netflix that apparently is based on a true story but has some comedic elements, too. I can't work out whether this is just down to their weird writing/directing style or what, but I'll stick with it for now.

I've started watching "11.22.63" (or 22-11-1963 in English) which is based on a Stephen King book which I read some time ago. It's not one of his "horror" stories; the title should tip the wink that it's about time travel, sort of. It's executive-produced by JJ Abrams and stars James Franco.
Franco plays Jake, an English teacher in small-town Maine who walks through the closet in his local diner and emerges in October 1960. When he returns to the spot where he landed in the past, he is transported back to the present, exactly two minutes after he left. The owner of the diner, Jake’s friend Al (Chris Cooper), explains how it works: people can go back to that spot and change things that happen in the past so that they have an impact on the present. However, if they go back again after that, all of their previous changes are erased and they end up in the same spot again.
The book was good, and having watched the double-episode intro (it clocks in at around 80 minutes) the series is going to be very good too.
You might recognise the date which doubles as the title - 11th November 1963...

I have noticed there is a load of new 'World Drama' on All4 streaming. Plenty of Scandi amongst others.

Police on ski-doos!
What more do you want??
I've started Finnish crime drama Artic Circle which has some stunning Lapland scenery and grisly goings-on. It also has 'Karppi' from Deadwind in it.
The streaming quality on All4 has improved out of all recognition thankfully...

I think she looks gorgeous in Deadwind too.
I wouldn't have recognized her in Artic Circle - I spotted her name in the credits.

Arctic Circle isn't the greatest drama, with some clunky dialogue and acting, but it is fun and worth watching just for that scenery ... I'm planning a trip to the Finnish Wilderness sometime.

I'll go out on a limb here and after only three of the eight episodes, so far, I will definitely recommend "11.22.63".
As I said, I've already read the book, but I'm rediscovering the ease with which Stephen King weaves his story around well-known (and not so well-known) historical events. I always enjoy that when it's done successfully, especially when said events are within my own lifetime, so I have my own memories of some of them.

Hehe, coming from a bit south of there Marie isn't that keen on watching it. Too many forced marches up snowy peaks and skating on frozen lake at school perhaps? She prefers warmer dramas 🙂

Watched the first episode of Inside Man on Netflix last evening and was subdued by the unique plot line and acting of David Tennant and Stanley Tucci. Looking forward to viewing Episode two this evening.

Looking forward to viewing Episode two this evening. We tried it, I switched it off after the ridiculous scene with the vicar and the USB stick in his house. Shit writing when the plot is driven along only because people don't say or explain what really happened. At that point I wasn't sure if it was meant to be a comedy and a shit one at that. I mean come who the hell admits to having kiddie porn rather than say what really happened?
