For All Mankind: I'm enjoying it, it's a pretty decent alternative history sewing in real and imaginary events together very cleverly. Some of the alternative " twists" are great, and echo throughout the series. They're very well matched up with the real footage too, I thought.

Dune’s prequel TV show looks like it could actually live up to the moviesDune: Prophecy looks incredible?Sci-fi and fantasy epics on television have come a long way in the last several years, but you could be forgiven for finding it hard to believe that Max’s upcoming Dune prequel series could live up to the majesty of Denis Villeneuve’s massive movies. However, the Dune: Prophecy trailer, which came out on Wednesday morning, is here to prove you wrong. The new series is set 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides, and will follow the early days of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood as it attempts to dig its claws into the social fabric of the galaxy. This means that the series will likely include significantly more of that palace intrigue, back-stabbings, and backroom deals that the recent Dune movies only hint at. And since this show is also on Max, it’s at least a little hard not to think of this as Game of Thrones (or more accurately House of the Dragon) in space, which is a pretty enticing premise. Despite being a prequel set long before Villeneuve’s movies, the world here looks surprisingly similar. The rooms in the trailer have the same beautiful angularity, with ornate walls and harsh lights that are perfect for the Bene Gesserit to sneak around in. Even more importantly, the trailer makes this all look beautiful in a way that hopefully bodes well for the show as a whole. Dune: Prophecy will star Emily Watson (Gosford Park), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Mark Strong (1917), and Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense, Rushmore). The series is created by Diana Ademu-John (The Haunting of Bly Manor), and will be directed by Anna Foster (Outlander), John Cameron (Legion, Fargo), and Richard J. Lewis (Westworld), with music from Volker Bertelmann (All Quiet on the Western Front). Dune: Prophecy is set for release this fall on Max. SOURCE

Herbert put so much into Dune that a prequel is almost mandatory

I'd love his Whipping Star series books to be filmed but probably harder than Dune.

Rebus Madam persuaded me to watch her next choice on the conveyor belt Not really for me. Seen far too many similar. She likes it though Read all the books, watched the previous TV series. John Hannah is a good actor, he wasn't Rebus. I was one of the multitude that clamoured for Ken Stott to be given the titular role, and, eventually, we were heard. Ken Stott WAS Rebus, and evermore shall BE Rebus, just like Jeremy Brett is THE Holmes, and David Suchet is THE Poirot. Whoever this new bloke is, he's not Rebus, speaking as a huge fan of the character. I watched the first episode, and didn't go back.

One for you, perhaps, MartinT. " Invasion" which I believe is on Apple TV+. I've just watched e1. and it's rather good. The company behind it is Canadian, and they're called Boat Rocker Media, and they also turned out " Beacon 23". Another positive, the music for series 1 is by Max Richter. Boat Rocker Media is also responsible for " Orphan Black: Echoes". They did " Killjoys", too.

I've just found out that "Invasion" has been renewed for a third series.
Incidentally. the premise is this - "Earth is visited by an alien species that threatens humanity's existence. Events unfold in real time through the eyes of a handful of ordinary people across the globe as they struggle to make sense of the increasing chaos around them."
So it may appear a little disjointed at first, especially if you don't know the concept. It has received a mixed critical response, praising the acting, music and pacing, but criticizing the underuse of the aliens. In Germany the show is not published as Invasion but is called Infiltration.

I've just finished s2 of " Beacon 23" and oh boy, don't it get weird before the end? It's set up for s3 now. MikeMusic, have you and her inside of the doors tried " Cold Courage" on Prime/Freevee. I'm on episode six, and it's not bad. It's oddly appropriate, as it's set during the run-up to an election. John Simm stars.

I am still surprised at some of the powerful dramatic moments in For All Mankind. It surprised me. I also can't take my eyes off Shantel VanSanten. Never seen her in anything before but she is amazing - both acting and appearance.
