I've just finished watching Banshee all the way through again. I absolutely love that series and this has confirmed that it remains my #1 TV series of all time.
The acting is superb - you get to know all the main characters and really care for them. The storyline is preposterous but very compelling. The action is superb with some of the most incredible set-pieces I've ever seen. The directing is spot-on and cinematography and camerawork should win awards for the visuals. There are flash-backs, flash-forwards and flash-maybes. The key female characters are each mesmerising in their own ways. The baddies are very bad indeed. The sex is explicit and artful. Even the opening credits and music are excellent with spot-the-changes for each episode. It leaves me wanting more.
My only wish is that someone else has seen it so that I can discuss it!

I've just watched trhe first episode of "Loki," and it's rather good. Tom Hidddlestone strikes just the right balance between sarcastic clown and megalomaniacal lunatic. Owen Wilson looks most un-Owen-Wilson-like and is, I think, going to grow on me. As well as Hiddlestone, the two main female leads are also played by English actors. Wunmi Mosaku is fierce. I'm now looking forward to Richard E. Grant tyurning up.

Coming in November, on Amazon Prime: The Wheel Of Time, which is being touted as the "new Game Of Thrones".
The first trailer for The Wheel of Time TV series has arrived, giving an early look at Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of Robert Jordan’s epic 14-book fantasy series ahead of its November 19th release date on Amazon Prime Video.
The trailer sets the stage for the series, establishing some of the basic tenets of Jordan’s world, with a specific focus on Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), a member of a group of female magic wielders known as the Aes Sedai, who are capable of wielding the One Power to accomplish feats like controlling the elements and healing others.
The trailer also shows off the first look at The Wheel of Time’s younger cast: Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara, and Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor — the five central characters in Jordan’s books who Moiraine ends up mentoring as they journey to save the world from darkness.
Fans will also recognize other key elements of Jordan’s story, teased in the trailer, including a visit to Shadar Logoth, a cursed city of shadow; the White Tower of Tar Valon and a glimpse at the different colour-coded orders of Aes Sedai; and the show’s take on the corrupted Myrddraal and Trollocs that will oppose Moiraine’s group.
As mentioned, Robert Jordan wrote 14 books in the "Wheel Of Time," series, plus a prequel novel and two companion books. It could take a while.
I shall certainly be watching it.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed the six eps of The Hunt for a Killer on iplayer.
So low key in a way but still totally enthralling.
Kind of like a Swedish version of 'Zodiac' ...

I'm looking forward to "Manhunt The Night Stalker," on ITV. It's one of those four-episodes-Monday-to-Thursday deals, so I shall probably end up recording it. It stars Martin Clunes as the former London Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton, in a sequel to the brilliant "Manhunt," which dealt with the Colin Pitchfork case, and the first use of DNA to gain a conviction in the UK. If you haven't seen it, give yourself a little treat. It's one of those dramas that only us Brits can make, and it's the reason why I have such high hopes for this sequal. I was really surprised by how good Martin Clunes was in such a powerful drama. This follow-up is based on DCI Sutton's diaries again, and details the hunt for serial killer Levi Bellfield, the only serial killer in the United Kingdom to be sanctioned with two whole life orders — meaning he will never be released or paroled. Oh, bugger. I've given the ending away. The series was developed by Ed Whitmore and DCI Colin Sutton himself. It starts on Monday Sept 20th and, as I said, runs for four nights.

A great favourite of mine from a couple of years back was French series The Crimson Rivers. Just found series 2 on C4 and it's just as entertaining. Very Gothic, convoluted storylines about grisly goings on in rural France. A word of warning - you may not want to watch it with your dinner!

Fringe on Pick Freeview a few episodes in Brilliant series, Mike, and it gets better. Walter is great, and it surprised the heck out of us to find out he's (well, John Noble, the actor who plays him is) an Aussue. He turned up in Sleepy Hollow (another seeries that Jeanette and I really enjoyed) as a villain too, and was suitably evil. Anna Torv, who plays Olivia Dunham is also Australian.
